New owners (very new owners in fact) are doing an excellent job of breathing new life into this wonderfully located hotel. The staff are very welcoming and want to do as much as possible to make your stay as pleasant as they can. The location, four or five miles south of Berwick is easy to access and wonderful for getting to the extremely beautiful Northumbria and Scottish border locations. Stay here rather than on the nearby Holy Island and you will save a fortune. Room 2 is a twin room, both clean & comfortable, with a hanging space rather than a wardrobe and a small but perfectly adequate en-suite bathroom. The cooked breakfast (included in the price) was individually prepared not a buffet. The food was delicious. As the new owners settle in it promises to be a great place to stay & eat. Very quiet - Noise levels from the main road and downstairs bar area were virtually non-existent.

The staff, the room, the food, the breakfast - you cannot fault this hotel for the excellence in these areas. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the quality and taste of the food was amazing. Breakfast was one of the best breakfasts we have had in the last 4 weeks touring around the UK. Richard on breakfast service made sure the layout and provisions at breakfast were spot on. The food at breakfast was a very high standard - we will certainly consider returning

Felt very welcome when I arrived. Smiling helpful young lady helped me to my room as there was no elevator. Room and bed very comfortable. Tiniest sink I’ve ever seen, but it worked. Lovely breakfast, and huge. Also had dinner one night, which was delicious.

Everything! The location is perfect! Who wouldn't want a hotel room with a window facing the beach? And literally just out the back door! The hotel is beautiful. Room is very nice and comfortable. Love the upgrades. This is my 2nd time staying here, and will again. Allison is very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is always delicious and filling!

What a lovely clean cosy wee cottage. Everything was spotless. Facilities are great. Super wee hamper on arrival. Walking distance into Berwick or Spittal. We did both. Supermarket just up behind the cottage and the view is excellent. Will be back.

    There was plenty to see in Berwick with a variety of shops and places to eat. There appeared to be a range of cultural activities and art to see. The town is walkable but the streets do have hills and uneven surfaces.

    A lovely place with so much history and retaining so much...

    A lovely place with so much history and retaining so much of its past. Great location for day trips into the Scottish Borders or Northumberland. Plenty buses ,trains if you want to explore further afield. Lots of good restaurants, pubs and cafes and a lovely beach. Furthermore very friendly and helpful locals. What's not to like!

    Great town, scenic and pretty.

    Great town, scenic and pretty. Easy to park and a good mix of restaurants. Easy to.patk and free in the evenings in the town centre. Good range of supermarkets and larger sops on the outskirts of town.

    Nice town lots restaurants, could do with small local supermarkets rather then having to drive out to one. Great location for visiting different places , Alwick village lovely lots of eating places and a market, Bamburg castle excellent lots to see inside I was surprised how much we could walk about and see. Cafe excellent cafe lovely food. Village not to big . Then we went to Edinburgh by train great day out too busy for the castle entry have to book in advance. Great holiday in all .we are at one Italian was ok but went to the Leaping Salmon a wetherspoon pub excellent food. Plenty of it too. We had to take the car to get to places in Berwick and about .

    Pleasant historic town with a nice river and coastal area.

    Pleasant historic town with a nice river and coastal area. We found a good restaurant (Amran's), a great place for breakfast (The Riverside Café) and a nice beer in the Curfew Micropub. Lots of amazing places to visit in the surrounding area.

    A great hotel convenient for walking into town. We. had a very comfortable stay. Staff were very helpful and the hotel did a good breakfast and varied bar meals on the menu. The hotel is very dog friendly which is a bonus.
