The initial greeting at reception by Sylvia was warm and friendly. Sylvia accommodated all our requests with a smile on her face. She made us feel like we were her personal responsibility. Our room was comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Every trouble had been taken to set up the rooms beautifully. A coffee machine was a bonus. The grounds were lovely and we were able to get a bottle of good wine for a reasonable price and sit and relax admiring the river and chatting to other guests and Matt the owner. Breakfast was excellent with all of the usual breakfast foods, including a lovely fruit salad as well as an excellent full English breakfast cooked to our liking.

The location is enchanting, placed in the heart of a managed forest, just a couple of miles from a local village. The cottages are furnished with taste and kitted with all modern appliances. Beautiful cottage in secluded location, very clean and comfortable. Host was exceptionally helpful . Wish we had longer. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a relaxing stay.

    There were plenty of places to eat with differing cuisines. We tried Azure restaurant at the back of the associated chip chop and were amazed at the quality of food for the price- just beware the portions are generous.

    Small town, locals can be a bit rowdy. Pubs are okay-ish and other places to eat. Great location in the breks, planty of places to get outdoors but be aware of the noisy jets from RAF Lakenheath - your 8am alarm call!

    We only used Brandon as an overnight stay to play golf in nearby Thetford. I have worked around this are in the past and the accommodation and location are an excellent base to visit local sights and places

    We booked our room in order to visit attractions in nearby towns. The local people whom we met were very friendly, helpful and entertaining. We only spent the evenings in Brandon itself but we found it a pleasant town with ample pubs and food outlets available. I would certainly recommend a stay in Brandon as a centre for exploring this lovely part of the country.

    There are many interesting period properties in Brandon.

    There are many interesting period properties in Brandon. The Little Ouse runs through the town and is a good place for canoeing, and river walks. There is a lock which allows bigger boats to pass the weir on to the lower river. Brandon is very close to Thetford forest and has a large country park with lots of bike and walking trails, as well as high climbing ropes for the more adventurous youngsters, Lakenheath air base is a stone's throw away and is a popular spot for aircraft enthusiasts. Brandon is a short drive from other historic places, such as Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and Ely.

    The Old Fire Station is quaint and quirky, as described, with clever use of space to fit in all the facilities you need. The owner takes great pride in the property, which is cosy, comfortable, clean and tidy. Very attentive communication from the owners. The Old Fire Station is centrally located for days out with the children, such as Brandon Country Park, High Lodge or places further afield accessed via the local trainline. The bowling alley just opposite was a great way to spend a couple of hours. Would recommend this as a place to stay.

    We were booked into the Ram inn, but on arrival were surprised to find we were staying in the Brandon House ,the house is a great big mansion ,rooms were very nice and warm and the beds comfortable, the shower was great and piping hot, The staff and owner were friendly and welcoming, especially Dani the barmaid who made our stay exceptionally good, had food in the ram new chef was great ,food lovely,would recommend the ram inn ,I will be returning shortly when spring arrives.

    As I was on a cycling tour it was great having all the facilities of home for less than the price of a basic hotel. Supermarket just around the corner. The host was very good at providing early notice of the key procedure. Milk, tea, coffee was a bonus.
