A stopover at this hotel was a pleasant experience. The hotel combined with the restaurant allows you to get into the English atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped with my children's allergies and exceptionally arranged breakfast in advance at our request. The building is interesting and remembers many centuries of history. It is well worth a stay here.

As with so many other towns a sad lack of investment has resulted in a very sad underdeveloped high street Lots of history here and it’s obvious at one time this was quite a desirable place to live but not so much now

Bridgwater is a sad place.

Bridgwater is a sad place. The river trade, upon which its very existence depends, is gone and Bridgwater is not developing a replacement economy. The few shops still open are quiet, charity shops or selling vapes or other useless trash. A depressing place to visit. I stopped here to find Somerset wicker basket sellers. They've gone online!

I had never been to Bridgwater before and was not very impressed with what I saw on my brief stay. It is very much like lots of other similar size locations - no interesting shops and too many fast-food outlets. The overall centre was rather sad and neglected but that is not too different to many other towns. Bridgwater reflects the situation in many British places - the High Street is nothing like it used to be.

Easy to get to off the M5 so a great location for nosing around the area. We went to Dunster Castle which was well worth the effort and another National Trust Property - Knightshayes near Tiverton - which is really stunning and you could easy make a day of it. We also spent a happy couple of hours at the Procktor Farm Car Boot plus several Antique Shops to browse. Only a couple of days away but we left knowing there is still more for us to do so we know we will be back.

Lots of roadworks at the moment, queues all through Bridgwater. Did not feel that I wanted to actually try to go into the Town as it was so congested. I realise this is temporary so would like to revisit the area again.

The hotel as a whole was past its best. However, it was clean, the staff were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was good. It was conveniently located but it was noisy at night through to the early hours. It was a Friday night so that did not help. Ears plugs were provided.
