Unspoilt, unpretentious, relaxed small town with friendly people and fabulous cafe by the river. Great location for Cumbria and Northumberland, for walking and sightseeing. Solo travellers will feel at home here.

We had a lovely stay in the Wildings. We stayed in the accessible suite which was perfect for the family, and good value for money considering there were two separate bedrooms in the suite which interconnected. Yummy snacks in the room for the kids to enjoy too and the breakfast was generous and delicious. The staff are helpful and friendly and chatty which is nice. I must also add the decor is beautiful and quirky and the handwash and lotion available around the hotel smells devine.

We stayed here to celebrate the start of the year countdown to our wedding at Eden Barn. This lovely hotel has been renovated beautifully. We had dinner and the steak and onion rings were incredible. Breakfast was also very tasty and great portion size. The bar, cocktail room and coffee lounge had a really relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are all newly decorated and well equipped. The beds were so comfortable! Staff were all really friendly.

A very helpful hotel, they were happy to go above and beyond. We had an early check in, which enabled us to get changed before an event. We had a great choice for breakfast which was cooked very well and thoroughly enjoyed.

The staff were extremely helpful. Dawn and Alison in particular. The location was very quiet and nothing much going on in Brough! But I visited Appleby, Kirby Stephen, and Kendal, plus Brough castle. All worth a visit.

As I was travelling solo it was good to feel more like a house guest than a client in an impersonal hotel. I enjoy the warm ambience of personal photographs and antique artefacts in this village home.
