The town/high street is suffering like so many other small towns, empty shops, lack of restaurants etc. Good if all you are looking for is coffee/lunch, but lacking options for evening. WE did not actually visit Budleigh, but used their Lime Kiln...
WE did not actually visit Budleigh, but used their Lime Kiln Car Park to visit the magnificent bird sanctuary on the Otterton salt marshes. the area has ahd millions spent upon it wth 2 new bridges, miles of walking routes and thousands of new trees planted. A quiet and lovely little corner of Devon. There was a really nice esplanade and an extended walk along the beach to the wetlands behind. Unfortunately it was at low tide so we didn't see any water fowl except for a swan. Nice small seaside town with a small seaside cove.lots of walks available with two pubs....Not sure I would risk swimming in the there...but I could be wrong. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable with a great bathroom. There was a plentiful and tasty selection on offer at breakfast. Alex and Sarah are so friendly and welcoming.
