FAQs about hotels in Cardiff

The Pride of Wales

Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.

Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.

From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Center, shopping in Cardiff is fantastic. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants for a short rest or meal. Those by Cardiff Bay have particularly pleasant views.

Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Center. Another year 2,000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and soccer matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.

Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city center.

As a regular visitor to our capital city Cardiff has so much to offer. Great bars restaurants, hotels to suit all pockets and so much to do in a very walkable distance. If history is your bag then you wont be disappointed. There's so much to see and do.

Cardiff people are really friendly and the bay is like the Scottish hills and i loved pasture the restaurant they were lovely people and even gave me a birthday treat with a candle and i didn't have to ask, just got talking. (very friendly) When out drinking everyone is up dancing the welsh are great (even the oldies). The city has nice buildings to photo and nicely lit up at night. And there water feature is so unreal hipnotic be best in the summer.

Wasn’t our first time in Cardiff so only there 1 night.

Wasn’t our first time in Cardiff so only there 1 night. But boy, did it feel like a full-blown holiday, with a castle, lovely walking streets, much better restaurants than I expected, cool museums, friendly locals. World’s first arcades. And loads of old buildings. Oh, also waterfront, rugby stadium and Dr Who spots all around … great family trip or for romantic couples. Try Pasture restaurant for dinner, and Corner Coffee for breakfast

Cardiff is a bright and interesting city, ideal for a short break. Whilst it may not have the beauty of cities such as York or Bath, there's lots to do and see. I especially enjoyed my tour of the Millennium (now Principality) stadium, in the city centre. The Cardiff Bay area is also well worth visiting. There are lots of nice restaurants and most places of interest are within walkable distance.

Easy to walk round sights. Castle, markets and arcades.

Easy to walk round sights. Castle, markets and arcades. Cardiff Arms very central. Lots of options for eating, from chains to independent. Fair walk from railway station to Bay (and not the nicest areas) but bus or trains available. Friendly locals. Clean city. Barry Island beautiful and worth visiting.

Our room had the most beautiful view and a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the gardens and providing a stunning view of Cardiff City and over the Bay. Lush. Tasty breakfast. Nice to be out of the town centre as it was wild on a Friday night with a concert on - much nicer to be at this hotel than in town.

The hotel is close to a mall with some restaurants and to the bay area with plenty of hip restaurants, live music and hustle and bustle. The city centre is far away on foot but the bay area is trendy and fun. City centre is worth a trip though, Cardiff is a really fun city.

Just a short walk into Cardiff Bay. Lots of bus routes near the hotel, altho the city centre is only about 15minute walk away. Secure car park (for £10/ night). Really like having the benefits of a hotel but all the facilities in the room too for cooking.
