Castle Cary is a great atractive town with a quaint museum and great to stroll around with character. Apart from pubs there was a lack of restaurants, so we ate elsewhere. We are not a young couple (74 & 73) and we walked around the town several times.

I like its oldness; I like the fact that all the bulls in the field behind The George hotel have their names on an ear tabs; I like the view of the Tor from the Ledge and I love the generosity of spirit which has created the Moat Garden. Castle Cary station, newly renovated, is a wonder.

Castle Carey, is a friendly village which is ideally situated for visits to National Trust properties and gardens such as Stourhead. It is on the doorstep of The Newt, a quality hotel and garden experience and the Hauser and Worth gallery near the village of Bruton.

Lovely quaint Somerset town with good shops for size of town. Parking not good though as limited to 2 hrs Mon-Sat 8am-6pm unless you want to walk from a car park 10 mins away. Even then not a 24 hr parking.

Beautiful village setting in rural Somerset.

Beautiful village setting in rural Somerset. Must be a driver to get around, although there are very basic amenities on the doorstep. If not eating out within the village you need to have a plan of where you are going to eat (google and trip advisor are your friend here). Supermarkets are about 5-7 miles away so you need to have a plan for this kind of trip.

Visited Castle Cary as somewhere to stay whilst visiting Longleat. Found Castle Cary a very friendly traditional small town with plenty of historic buildings. Pleased to find many tradition, locally run shops.

The room was an absolute delight, spacious with a lovely large comfy bed. Impeccably clean throughout the bedroom and bathroom and a great shower. Everything needed had been thought of and the shared kitchen area was brilliant. Cannot fault Hues at all, everything was perfect and the little touch from Louise was greatly appreciated by us. For the cost it cannot be beaten. Castle Cary is extremely beautiful and quiet and we will definitely make a return visit to Hues.

Plum cottage is a lovely period cottage in a fantastic quiet location in the centre of Castle Cary. Access was easy and all information very helpful. The cottage has been very nicely decorated in keeping with its cottage style and age and is very clean and well maintained. The courtyard garden is pretty and a lovely sun trap, where we enjoyed sitting at any time of day. Communication with the owner was pleasant and a very prompt response.

Absolute gem! House was beautifully presented and super clean. Chris responded really quickly to my questions and could even give recommendations outside of Castle Cary for things to do. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again or at another of Chris’ other properties.

Friendly staff and enough of them. The hotel bar was popular with good mix of friendly locals who were visiting the outdoor Christmas market and /or watching football and/or attending Christmas meals Tasty classic breakfast.
