The Hotel was very comfortable, and the room was huge. The lady running the bar the night we stayed was a credit to the business. Helpful, great laughs and great advice for the continuation of our trip. The chef came out for chat also it was just a very welcoming and enjoyable place to stay for our first night in Scotland.

All villages around the area were very pretty you could easily spend a long weekend exploring. So many castles and battle sites nearby. Flodden is incredibly well documented and looked after all praise to the local community.

A good place to stop overnight. Evening meal good quality. Remember it is set in the country alongside the A697 trunk road Worthwhile visit to Braxton/ Flodden field to view site of last major battle between Scots and English in 1513

Cornhill-On-Tweed is a very quiet, small village, so a car...

Cornhill-On-Tweed is a very quiet, small village, so a car is probably necessary for travelling there. However, it is reasonably close to Holy Island, Berwick-upon-Tweed, and lots of other interesting places. Great for walkers, explorers and those wanting simply to ‘chill.’ Sadly we did not have time to sample the local restaurant, which sounded great, but we can recommend the Ecclefechan tarts at the village shop!

We love the area and only had one night spare, but would...

We love the area and only had one night spare, but would stay longer if we could. Especially as the sun was shining. Its a very small country village, with others nearby so make the most of your time if you are in the car (it would be difficult to visit if you dont have transport but not impossible, I suppose). Easy access to Coldstream, Kirk Yetholm, Spittal, Berwick and Holy Island (Lindisfarne) too. I believe the fishing is good if that is your thing. Explore Ford and Etal too and come back to Crookham for a walk through the village and back before enjoying your evening meal at the Blue Bell Inn. Don't forget to book a table, it is very popular and gets busy.

It was perfect for a cosy Christmas stay.

It was perfect for a cosy Christmas stay. Lovely village shop that sells everything. We attended the Christmas Eve service at the beautiful church which was really outstanding. Lovely walk around the old railway. Boxing Day dook at Spital beach was brilliant. We will 100 percent be back for another Christmas:)

The location is ideal for travelling to the coast and visits to the Jim Clark Museum at Duns, well worth a visit, the Trimontium Roman Museum at Melrose and also the abbeys at Kelso, Melrose and Jedburgh. The location of the Flodden Field and its associated monument is nearby.

Nice country hotel/inn, excellent breakfast and very good dinner. Very quiet area with a pleasant garden to the rear, room was a good size and bed very comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful, pleasant lounge/library well stocked with books. Well located for Coldstream, Kelso and Berwick, in some beautiful countryside next to the River Tweed

A handy location as we stopped for a couple of days on our way to Scotland. We found lots of interesting things to explore in the area, including a visit to Flodden Field battlefield and the Ford and Etal estates. The village shop is very well stocked, and we ate at the local hotel one evening.
