My goodness, where to start. It’s a beautiful old Flemish building maybe 5-7 minutes walk from the centre of Beccles. The host, Matthew, was delightful, gentle, and facilitated me coming in at midnight. And as I lay awake after the ‘Big Night Out’ at the local Public Hall, I felt I could sense the talking, debate and meerschaum-ported tobacco smoke curling up from yesteryear, which was somehow integrated into the fabric of this house. And the continental breakfast- hoh!-what a panoply of riches that was. Something to make Brueghel and the like quite proud. A still life soon decimated. But it was only on my departure that I realised what was so utterly charming about this place. In an era of Airbnb and coded entry locks, this feels like an old-fashioned B&B at its heart, and eminently well suited to Beccles.

The property was well thought out in a lovely quiet location. It had everything we needed and felt like a home away from home. It was perfect for 2 people. It was so quiet I was able to sleep during the day having done night shifts! The outside space was really nice to chill in during the day. Paul was so friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely stay here again! Thanks for a place to sleep off night shifts!
