The train is very convenient, and the Old Nags Head pub is worth a visit. There really is very little else to the town. I recommend a stay in Castleton instead. Just be aware that there are no trains to Castleton and bus service stops before 6pm.

Top notch walks and climbs on the doorstep, especially if you want to experience Kinder Scout. Best food and beer at the Old Nags Head pub. Handy train station. Can get very busy at weekends, very popular with walkers and cyclists.

Edale is a beautiful small village situated almost at the foot of the most amazing mountain roads and walks. A pub at either end of the village with good food, good beer and a friendly atmosphere. We absolutely loved it.

This was a February trip so the weather was often wet but there are plenty of other things to do besides walking. One minor disadvantage is the lack of a bus service in the village (we were using public transport), but trains are generally reliable from the local station and other places accessible from Hope or Hathersage. Visitor Centre was closed during February half-term - a shame as it could have been useful. Great atmosphere in this village, by day and by night. Wonderful walking

Poor Wi-Fi connection.

Poor Wi-Fi connection. When I stayed in different accommodation previously I experienced the same issue. A lovely cafe next to the train station. If it wasn’t for the length of stay I would have explored other places to eat outside Edale. Be aware that poor signal may affect your ability to park in some car parks in the area. I would advise bringing plenty of change with you.

All of the staff especially the landlady Wendy were super friendly. Fabulous location for ramblers and Mam Tor. Good pub food and a pint to come back to after a long walk. Amazing breakfast. Train station right next door which is super handy if you want to go further afield or arrive by train.

We absolutely loved our stay. There was nothing nicer than coming home from a long hike in beautiful Edale to our warm tent. This was a treat for my other half’s birthday and she hasn’t stopped saying how much she enjoyed it.

Loved the basket with a few goodies in, lovely touch. House is well equipped, home from home and decorated beautifully throughout. Edale short walk through the footpaths, avoiding the road.
