Gilsland was a stop-off point for us walking Hadrian's Wall Path. Due to various mishaps, I felt almost ready to give up but our lovely overnight stay here put me back in the right frame of mind to continue the next day. Breakfast was superb and so was the evening meal that the owner provided at very reasonable extra cost. This is by far the nicest B&B we have ever stayed in and was much better than the (more expensive) hotels we stayed in on the trail that week.
