Breakfast is always great. The Inn is situated in a lovely little medievalish town and 2 minutes' drive from the Wellcome genome campus. It has parking, which you do not pay for additionally, which is also why I like to come here. When I got there, my room was upgraded, which was a really nice experience. This was my 3rd time there and I love to stay at this Inn - the staff are so friendly and helpful and Chris is such a helpful, kind host, who assisted me late at night when I had troubles with finding my keys. Thanks Chris! I recommend this Inn for anyone who wants a real old-world English Inn experience with lovely breakfast, a nice garden to sit in, and close to Cambridge (20 min), Wellcome Genome Campus (2 min), and Saffron Walden (5 min). Really lovely experience for me.

The location was ideal for Stanstead airport The room was beautifully decorated in a very relaxing shade of green. The room had everything you needed for a short stay. It was very modern and well set out so that all space was utilised. The shower was particularly great. Looking out onto the gorgeous garden was a bonus and it was so quiet. We had parking for our car and walked to the most gorgeous local pub for dinner. I had left a very special item behind and was most upset. Wendy assured me that she would post it home to Australia. That is service above and beyond and most of all, just really kind hosts.

The location of the property is great by Audley End house (a magnificent English Heritage property) and just outside Saffron Walden. A parking pass was provided and the parking was near the property with plenty of space for larger vehicles. We walked into Saffron Walden town centre which is full of medieval buildings and about 1.3 miles away. The host was responsive but I didn't need any help after arrival as good instructions were left. She had left some lovely chocolate biscuits, fresh coffee grounds and croissants which were all delicious. The room was very comfy and the facilities well thought out. The heating was excellent as was the shower. The free wifi signal was strong and superquick (330mbs). The smart telly allowed you to log into Netflix to carry on your series where you left off. We were pleased we bought walking shoes as the entrance to the Old School House is across a small green with no path so can be a slightly muddy though we found it charming. There were many rabbits at evening foraging and playing on the green.

Not much to see in the immediate area, but some beautiful...

Not much to see in the immediate area, but some beautiful old buildings, a couple of pubs one serving A wide range of Thai food, the other Greene King chain although limited menu. It was well placed for visiting attractions in the surrounding area. Railway station within walking distance and park and ride for Cambridge about 6miles away.

We booked this hotel to visit Audley End for a concert.

We booked this hotel to visit Audley End for a concert. I think on reflection it was a little bit too far away as we had to book cabs to the venue which was an expense I hadn't factored in. That aside we enjoyed our stay at Great Chesterford. Very pretty countryside. The hotel had a lovely courtyard garden where we enjoyed a drink, our bed was comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The hotel has a very relaxed, unstuffy feel to it which was good for us.

I was made very welcome!

I was made very welcome! I had my dog with me and he was made very welcome too. Water was provided for him and so was breakfast! They were not doing food in the evening, but arrangements were made for me to ha e a pizza delivered. As a disabled person I was welcomed and my disability catered for by providing a suitable room with walk-in shower.

Lovely hospitality by all and dog friendly and a lovely breakfast set up and freshly cooked to order. Nice garden, nice pub 2 mins away and Audley End not far. Lovely location. Just remember to put full address and post code of hotel in sat nav, not just ppost code and its easy to find. Very relaxing stay.

Excellent hotel. Has some local historical value which was revealed by the staff. e.g old tunnel to the local church dating back to the Civil war. Excellent garden made a pleasant way to have a quiet drink.
