Apartment is just what you could ask for, stocked with full amenities. Walking distance to Haytor, with a view of Haytor as well since the apartment faces west. Excellent location for exploring the moors.

I have mobility problems but was able to follow the even slope up to the quarry and tramway I couldn't make it to the rocks but there are plenty of other walks, some on the flat that make it worth while to visit A big bonus is having the visitor centre and also the cafe in the Moorland Hotel as this can be visited from the visitor centre without having to travel by car or foot on the main road

The hotel was excellent, but no lift to the second floor meant that we oldies who find stairs a chore didn't help! We coped. Our room was good, but just a bit smaller than we would have liked. Breakfasts and dinner were great! Unfortunately time constraints meant we couldn't explore more, but we'll be back!

The hotel is located with easy access onto the open moorland. There are some wonderful walks, so great if you have dogs too. Close to Widecombe and some good pubs, trendy Ashburton or the gateway to the moors Bovey Tracey. A wonderful hotel. Very Agatha Cristie.

Having a cosy ‘Pub’ within the hotel with a real fire and dog friendly with friendly staff made our one day/night relaxing as we didn’t need to go anywhere as the weather was bad. Just down the hill via car is a lovely farm shop with cafe but you do need to book a table as we found out unfortunately. For those who like to walk there are even wellies in the reception area to borrow.

Great walking routes to Haytor Rocks and/or Haytor Quarry...

Great walking routes to Haytor Rocks and/or Haytor Quarry from the door. Remnants of the old Haytor Tramway give insight into the fascinating history of the region. Lots of other Dartmoor walks within a short drive, as are the historic villages of Ilsington and Widdecombe in the Moor. Haytor Vale itself has a row of beautiful stone cottages and it's only a 15 minute walk down to the Rock Inn, a characterful pub with great food. Lots of other Dartmoor/coastal attractions within 30 minutes drive.

The location was perfectly placed for accessing the moors with a view of HayTor. The open plan living room and kitchen with lots of light making it feel very spacious. Both my friend and I particularly drawn to the living room with it’s glass doors and windows looking into the garden.

A very quiet location with the option of walking to Dartmoor and the local Haytor straight from the door. A very generous welcome box on arrival. We stayed in February and it was very warm and had logs for a fire.
