Picturesque Yorkshire Village with The Countyman's Inn as the focal point of village life. The pub looks from the inside like you would expect an old English pub to be , with a few modern vibes ( german beer).The food is good old yorkshire grub , but more modern food is available too. And it's all yummy , especially the breakfast.The rooms are quirky but clean and have everything you need. We really enjoyed our stay here , and the service is superb.

We arrived early and were welcomed. The weather was awful - Middleham had had a good downfall of snow overnight, albeit a little early. We enjoyed a drink in the bar area whilst our room was ready. Our room was spotlessly clean, with an excellent view of Middleham Castle. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the bar where we met Fiona - the proprietor. What a lovely lady. Our meal was excellent - could not be faulted. After a restful night's sleep, we were delighted to see that the snow has disappeared. Breakfast was absolutely scrumptious. It certainly set us up for the rest of today - Sunday 24th. Very nice to see the race horses being exercised. Fiona explained that Middleham is the Newmarket of the North - many riding stables in the area. Another visit is a MUST. Next time we will take our dog with us to meet Fiona!!

Lovely Quiet location, beautiful countryside. Blue Lion set in well kept grounds with large lawn area where you can sit and relax with a drink or afternoon tea, Rooms were clean and well presented, quiet at night, and peaceful. Excellent full Yorkshire breakfast in the morning, coffee served in lovely old silver coffee pots, and helpful lady serving you.

Fantastic accommodation, tastefully decorated and very comfortable! Everything you could possibly need has been included. Breakfast was amazing and Mark and Nicki were fabulous hosts. We would definitely recommend a stay here. It’s just a short walk to town, so very convenient.

The family room was amazing!

The family room was amazing! The layout was great - our two children were very well accommodated in an annex with 2 single beds. Our pet dog was welcomed too. We were very impressed with the chilled water bottles, and the availability of FRESH milk available for hot drinks in our room. Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was wonderful. We enjoyed a delicious bar meal in the evening and a full English breakfast the following morning, giving us a great start to the day!

I didn't see much there other than a local pub, I can't say that I saw any other facilities. It's a good base to visit the dales, while easily accessible to the A1(M). A large Tesco and other shops in Catterick, about 3 miles away.

Lovely peaceful little village surrounded by beautiful countryside yet within easy reach of many interesting & historic places & areas, as well as large towns & cities if that's what you're looking for, all easily accessible by vehicle, taxi, bicycle, or public transport. Only a few miles from the A1M so very easy to reach from all directions. Very friendly locals in the community run Countryman's Inn with excellent food & accommodation on offer.

A great pub with real ale and very good food. The cooked breakfast was the best I've ever had at a hotel/ guest house. The rooms were a good size looking out to the beer garden and countryside, spacious and clean and comfortable. Real milk was available to make tea/coffee in the rooms. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and gave good information about the beers and the accommodation. There was a lovely atmosphere and we enjoyed talking to some of the locals there.

Have stayed there before but now it has changed hands Dan and Lisa are excellent hosts everything is so much better all the staff couldn't do enough made us feel so much at home food was amazing clean room everything that you needed was never to much trouble already looking forward to booking again I'd definitely recommend this little jewel in Hunton thanks again everyone.

This is a community-owned pub at the heart of the North Yorkshire village community of Hunton, and it plays a major role in creating and maintaining the strong community feeling there. Its friendliness and variety of activities are excellent. Breakfast very good.
