I like Keswick because it has a lively atmosphere and market in the heart of the city. In addition to hiking and walking around the mountains and countryside, you can also enjoy trips to the other towns including Cockermouth, Grasmere, Kendal, Windermere, and Ambleside etc. People are kind and helpful with directions and transportation. The Pencil Museum is a nice and cozy place where you enjoy yourself and learn a lot about Keswick and the Lake Disctrict. The public transportation is convenient, but sometime is late due to traffic and trouble with the buses. Keswick is fascinating and wonderful for anybody as well as for family with kids. Last but not least, dogs are happy and free to enjoy the nature with their human companions as well.

We live locally, Workington, and enjoy infrequent visits to Keswick. Plenty of places to eat, lots of shops although there is a leaning towards the hiking and walking supplies and touristy stuff there are a good number of independent shops that are well worth a visit, and a goodly amount of activities, crazy golf, Kong climbing wall, trip on the lake etc. Keswick is also very handy for the rest of the Lakes, with decent public transport links, X4/X4 between Workington and Penrith and the 555 that runs through to Kendal and Lancaster.

This is a tiny market town (almost a village!) in Cumbria.

This is a tiny market town (almost a village!) in Cumbria. However, it has access to all of the lakes, boat trips, walking everything you need for a trip. There are a million climbing/walking shops in the town centre so if you forget anything it's all there. As for food plenty restaurants and cafes some very pricey others not. There is a Weatherspoons there which was packed morning noon and night for food if you don't want to pay for pricey places. There is a nice selection of bars too most do food and some are really foody places rather than bars. Dogs everywhere so if you are allergic - avoid! There is a wonderful supermarket there - Booths - which has everything you need if you are catering this yourself. Enjoy! If you aren't into climbing/walking then two nights is more than enough for just a relaxing weekend away.

Visited in early October...town was humming in daytime, and reasonably busy at night. Didn't feel like holidaying out of season. Lots of outdoor shops, cafe's, pubs and cafes, all seemed very friendly. Ate in both pubs and local restaurant. Very helpful tourist Information with lots of maps etc

Keswick is a beautiful town with lots of lovely cafes, bars and restaurants and shops. The lake Derwentwater is beautiful and the surrounding countryside is so pretty. We ate at the Golden Lion a couple of times. Great food, very reasonable prices. We shopped in the local shops .

The hotel is perfectly located and it was a short 5 min walk to Keswick town centre and the Lake. The hotel is very clean, the bed was comfortable and the TV has Netflx already loaded so we didn't have to cast from our phones. The biggest point of our stay the staff who were amazing and very accommodating, great customer service and we will definitely return soon. Food wise, the hotel offered a courtesy afternoon coffee and Lemon drizzle cake. The breakfast was 5 stars and our Recommendation: must try the locally sourced ketchup.

The hotel outdoor area and conservatory are lovely and just like the images online. You can take the walking path into the town centre and it's a nice walk. The room was quite spacious, the bathroom large and shower water pressure good. While not fancy the decor and fittings are all fine. Room was clean. We would definitely stay here again in future if it suited our plans.

A comfortable quiet cottage in the perfect location. The beds had firm but extremely comfortable mattresses, we had the perfect night's sleep. The cottage is a short walk from the town centre and lovely local park. The property had a good sized dining/kitchen and a large bathroom. I would definitely return again when in Keswick.

Thank you! We had an amazing stay, we much appreciated the little touches such as milk in the fridge and a pack of biscuits. Great location just outside of Keswick town centre and a spot to park right outside the property.

Very nice building with a good location for the town centre. It has a car park, which many hotels don't, that near the town centre, but only enough space for about 5 cars. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
