FAQs about hotels in Leeds

Stylish, Stately and A Shopping Haven!

Between Bronte Country and the Yorkshire Dales, Leeds is a stately city with a wealth of impressive Georgian and Victorian buildings. The most celebrated is the town hall, a Grade I-listed gem with a huge clock tower supported by columns. Just around the corner is the understated Leeds Cathedral, and between the two is Millennium Square, a large urban space that plays host to outdoor concerts and a German Christmas market.

Shopping in Leeds is fantastic. Kirkgate Market is Europe’s largest covered market, and the magnificent, round Corn Exchange is home to exclusive boutiques. The city also has the first Harvey Nichols outside of London, as well as the usual high street brands.

As home to 2 large universities, Leeds has a young and vibrant vibe. It has repeatedly been voted the clubbing capital of the UK and is home to the Leeds Festival, an annual music event that attracts thousands.

The city also has excellent sporting pedigree. Internationals are held at Headingley cricket ground, and Leeds United FC and the Leeds Rhinos rugby league team are well-known names in their fields.

On the outskirts of the city are wonderful Roundhay Park, Kirkstall Abbey and Leeds-Bradford International Airport. Leeds accommodation on Booking.com covers all areas of this elegant city.

Actually we dont have much time sight seeing Leeds due to short day time. However managed to go down memory lane those places we frequented over 30 yrs ago. Infact we came to Leeds several times during those years. My husband is the alumini of Leeds University. Our last visit before this was in 2023.

Leeds City Cente is a fantastic place to come shopping,...

Leeds City Cente is a fantastic place to come shopping, especially at Christmas. We found the xmas markets food based mostly with no real nick nack shops, in fact it was an overpriced food market. YORK was much nicer and cheaper. Its accessible and you can get round most of it in a day. Lots of food choices. Now then thats where the good stuff ends. Be prepared to feel intimidated by all the rough sleepers and vagrants. They pack up in groups of 4 to 6, hang around everywhere. They dont approach you, fair enough, but what are the Police and council doing about this??? Really brings the city down and to shame. Take a trip into Thorntons Arcade. We saw a rough sleeper inside the night before visiting it. Ohh my it all smelled of urine. How are the shopkeepers able to put up with this. Awful we were holding our breaths and resisted any shopping there. I lived in Leeds for 30 years and remember the rough sleepers hanging around the churches, what ive seen this year is disgusting and the authorities need to get a handle on this. So if your planning a trip, enjoy the shops and ignore the weird homeless and men and women who walk shout and scream TO THEMSELVES. Or walk into takeouts rummaging through the bins without a care. Or do yourself a favour and go to Metro, Meadowhall and similar

Leeds is pretty vibrant City.

Leeds is pretty vibrant City. Sadly at present some disruption with buses and Taxis are overpriced and instead of Taxi drivers taking the shortest route they will go longest route and fares are ridiculously high.

I recently stayed at the Clayton Hotel Leeds and was really impressed by how clean, comfortable, and modern the rooms were. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout my stay. The location worked perfectly — close enough to walk into the city centre, yet just far enough out to avoid the noise. Breakfast offered plenty of choice and good quality, and having on‑site parking was a real bonus. Overall, I felt the hotel offered excellent value for money and made for a very enjoyable stay.

A well-located hotel, which is a short walk from the city centre (10 mins) and right next to the Leeds canal, which has a lovely path beside it for walks. Parking next door to hotel very reasonable with hotel discount. Rooms on the small side but well-equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, great shower, and excellent air-con. Staff pleasant and very helpful - no issues with swapping one of our double rooms for a twin. Decent bar for a drink before bed 🙂 Plenty of choice at breakfast.

We booked a long time in advance and got a very good Dinner, Bed & Breakfast deal. The only things we had to pay for were drinks. Our room was spacious with TV, chairs etc. Our room was cool despite the hot weather. The hotel is built in taditional Yorkshire sandstone and feels secluded despite having good access to the Leeds ring road and a main road into Leeds city centre.
