This is a wonderful place to stay. Friendly very helpful staff. Great facilities especially the heated indoor pool area. Amazing building which was well kept and was exciting to explore with wonderful rooms. Food was excellent and a great bar. Wonderful sitting and relaxing areas available. Would recommend staying here and we would definitely go back

It was a gorgeous inn. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The pub and restaurant were very charming. The dinner we had at the restaurant was delicious. It was not convenient for hiking Hadrian's Wall Path but was the closest place available. Totally worth the extra walking to get there!

Amazing property with two substantial living areas, ideal for a couple of families staying together, we were a group of 4 and had loads of space. Very high specification finish inside and out, well equipped kitchen, fantastic location within 5-10 minutes walk to corbridge. George was fantastic with clear information ahead of the trip and always available with a quick response to any questions…

Beautiful building, fantastic surroundings, some great staff, Laura, Will, Monica. Lots of new work going on to extend health and beauty facilities but fear it might be at the expense of improving existing where without doubt with exceptions, many staff are in urgent need of help, not training, help. Bit like the old expression, “ fur coat and no knickers “

Perfect location for family to stay while attending a...

Perfect location for family to stay while attending a wedding nearby. Staff very helpful and friendly. Beautiful historic building with plenty of places to take a quiet moment, inside or outside. Views of surrounding lands wonderful. Would certainly stay in Matfen again.

We have been to a few other places in this area - Matfen...

We have been to a few other places in this area - Matfen stands out from the crowd. So many 4/5* places disappoint but this did not - it earned its stars. Gorgeous countryside, interiors quite stunning and food was good.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel ,had lunch in the clubhouse and dinner in the hotel both were excellent. The staff in both the clubhouse and hotel were very professional and friendly.

Muld in swimming pool showers Very old mattress in new part of the hotel with dipping hole No regard for guest who has paid 290£ for a dinner and asked to seat in certain table that we always seat. Even though the restaurant was empty. No welcome chat or explanation about breakfast time or where new restaurants located Cleaners removed personal paper work that was left in room I was addressed as Mr in my welcome card left in the room Nut a very good internet

The luxury suite is superb although costly in comparison to...

The luxury suite is superb although costly in comparison to other similar 5 stars hotel. But we know it and like it just the same. We ate at all the 3 restaurants. Simple food at the golf club The Keepers, fine dining (not yet there) The Emerald with beautiful interior but slow service due to the kitchen rather then the serving staff. The interior of the whole hotel is superb and impressive. Cleanliness is super and so are all the staff. Highly recommend the hotel.

Beautiful place gorgeous setting which has been refurbished with really major improvements and investment. Room and bathroom quite excellent standard ,good well run bar (and excellent young barman) pretty decent spa (although sauna & steam room too hot ) and large well equipped gym . Dinner quality of food very good and wine reasonable price ,staff overall good appearance and very friendly .Cloisters restaurant Polish lady manageress by far the most professional person in the Hotel .

The Quality and Service from staff members during our stay was absolutely outstanding. Kudos to them, I have stayed in hotels across the world and I have generally found that UK Hotels are distinctly below par in service, staff attitude and quality. Matfen Hall is most certainly not. Faboulous, well done. 🙌
