From the moment I booked the team at Merchants Yard went above and beyond to ensure I had the best possible stay. Nothing was a problem for them, organising flowers as we were celebrating our 25th Anniversary, booking a table for dinner, offering advice on things to do near by and much much more. On check in the team were brilliant, friendly welcome and a complimentary drink (thank you). Throughout our stay the team were amazing, always happy and made sure we had everything we needed. Brilliant 👏👏

We had a wonderful stay at the H Boutique Hotel in Bakewell. The staff was absolutely lovely — attentive, kind, and always willing to help so we could explore the area with peace of mind. A special thank you to David, who was incredibly kind — it was a real pleasure to have such a nice conversation with him. We highly recommend this hotel and can’t wait to come back!

I couldn't fault our trip - it was simply wonderful from start to finish. We had booked a king room which was amazing, so spacious, clean and modern. Topped off by a beautiful mountain view. The surrounding area had lovely walks with scenery for miles! The Blind Bull staff were all so friendly and welcoming, taking a genuine interest in your stay. There were so many small touches which made the stay feel extra special! The food was exceptional - everything tasted so good so I would definitely recommend booking an evening dinner in the restaurant.

We had a truly wonderful stay at the Rutland Arms. The hotel itself is beautiful, full of character, charm, and in the perfect location to explore Bakewell and the surrounding area. But what really made our stay exceptional was the staff. Everyone we encountered was kind, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. A special thank you to the team on Sunday evening: after a long walk up Mam Tor, we lost track of time and returned to Bakewell too late to find anywhere still serving food. The kind gentleman at reception went out of his way to arrange for the hotel restaurant to take us in, and the restaurant staff were so gracious and warm, happily preparing us a lovely meal even at the end of their shift. That kind of thoughtfulness and hospitality is rare and it meant so much to us. We’ll absolutely return and recommend the Rutland Arms to anyone visiting the area. Thank you again for a truly memorable stay!

I was only there for the weekend and could have stayed longer. There are lots of options for walks on your doorstep and it is beautiful. The Monsal Trail is also perfect for cycling- straight and flat, the route of an old railway. The walk I took went from forested walkways, to river stepping stones to Victorian lime kilns and was thoroughly enjoyable. There are also interesting places to visit a short drive away. When I return I’d like to visit Eyam plague village museum, as I do enjoy a bit of social history. Millers Dale is place worth visiting, and then returning to!

Full of long gone industrial history. A very easy flat trail to walk or cycle (The Monsal Trail) and places to abseil from and rock climbing very close by. Fishing with a license is also available, but it is the scenery and peace that brings us back time and again.

Property was in a beautiful location ideal for walkers and pet owners. The apartment had everything you needed and was dog friendly. The Anglers Rest pub had amazing staff, tasty food which we sampled and also allowed dogs. We would definitely recommend, we came straight home and booked our second stay.

The location is exceptionally beautiful and peaceful, most of the time only the sound of birds and sheep . Fill your car with provisions and you never need to use it as endless walks from the door. Love the landscape and the ever present history. Walked both directions along the Monsal Trail. Epic sandwiches sitting outside the pub at Monsal Head and my little dog welcome everywhere.

A fantastic location for walking as the accommodation was a few steps from the monsal trail. Accommodation was behind a pub so there would normally be meals and drinks served every day, however, with covid restrictions, the food times were very limited. Several quaint and picturesque villages only a short drive away, with cafes and pubs etc.
