This place is located right near Minffordd railway station and the Portmeirion resort which was my next place to travel to. The service from the hosts was exceptional. I was very impressed with the facilities and the size of the place. It was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. I can recommend this place.

Great small hotel at the foot of the Harlech Castle hill with very friendly hosts. We had a comfortable room with a castle view and enjoyed a beer and chips in the hotel bar in the evening. The breakfast was excellent. Good starting point for the Snowdonia national park or the Harlech beach!

All the staff in Royal Sportsman Hotel were super nice but professional — offering suggestions on where to eat, what to do, how to go to attractions etc. They were clearly short-staffed — I saw many of them worked long hours (especially the F&B members) but yet they were cheery and helpful to me throughout my stay. The room was exceptional, cosy and clean. The location was only 5 minutes walk from Porthmadog train station.
