Always try to visit whenever we’re in Cornwall, returning from the Scillies on a Saturday evening seemed the ideal opportunity to stay in Mousehole for a couple of nights before returning home to the midlands. Enjoyed fish & chips on Saturday evening then dined at The Ship on Sunday, perfect end to our holiday.

Mousehole was delightful. It’s a charming little village. Amazing views No2 Fore St served a superb meal. Amazing. Especially if you like fish. Go prepared. There isn’t a store in the village. Newlyn is where the nearest shop is. For someone like myself who struggles to get around everywhere seemed to be UP! But I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Thank you Mousehole.

Quaint little place, a few good options for eating out, and a great deli. Loved the vegan Orange Grove Cafe. The harbour is very pretty and there are buses to Penzance every 20 minutes. The only downside for us was that there’s nowhere much to walk dogs without hiking up steep hills, and the small areas of ‘beach’ where dogs are allowed are basically just boulders so very difficult to walk on.

Lovely little village with the harbour being the main focus for swimmers, paddle boarders and fishing. Good for water sport enthusiasts and families with young children who can build sandcastle and paddle.

Mousehole, as the name suggests, is very small.

Mousehole, as the name suggests, is very small. It is really cute and typically querky. Parking is 'difficult' as the roads are very narrow and not one way. There are a few souvenier shops but for anything else you need to go elsewhere. Best to park in the paid car park by the old cost-guard. The best restaurant is Number 2 shore Street, it is expensive but the quality is amazing and the staff are great! Also The Honey Pot in Penzance is fabulous for cafe type food and they will be doing evening dining soon.

Mousehole (pronounced "Mowzel") is the epitome of charm.

Mousehole (pronounced "Mowzel") is the epitome of charm. The Harbor has a small beach and people swim at high tide. There are bigger beaches just a bus ride (or two away) -- we went to Sennen Beach (out near Land's End) and Marazion Beach (near St Michael's Mount). Of course the SW Coastal Path goes through Mousehole, so that's ideal. We visited one week before the official start of the "season," and the weather was fantastic (warm enough for swimming). I would imaging that high season would be crowded, though. The bus into Mousehole from Penzance is small (because of the quaint old roads) and I would guess it gets packed, but it runs every 20 minutes and the bus system overall in Cornwall is fantastic -- no need at all for a car! Everyone was extremely friendly to us, although we heard that locals are grumbly that a lot of Mousehole real estate has turned over to tourist rentals and second homes for weathly Londoners--so true of many desirable holiday locations.

At check-in we received a complimentary upgrade to a sea view room. The room and shower were quite small (but it’s a very old hotel so there’s not much that could be done about that) but had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable (had a great sleep!). Dinner and breakfast were delicious. All members of staff were wonderful and welcoming. The old world charm of the inn and the rooms was matched by the hospitality.

Everything about the accommodation gave the feeling of luxury. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed large and extremely comfortable. The towels were thick and new and spelt amazing. Tracey, our host, was very friendly, personable and helpful. We were in the centre of Mousehole, which is a characterful village with incredibly good restaurants which compare very favourably with those we like in The Cotswolds and London.
