St. Austell is a working town not really a vacation destination. But it has excellent transport facilities - bus and train to all the major Cornwall attractions and is perfect for the Eden Project. I couldn’t find a Tescos or similar.

Buses to the Eden project left from the railway station which was 5minutes away. No buses to the Heligan gardens on a Sunday so had to take taxis. Great hotel next door - food was excellent and there was a Saturday cabaret which was excellent easy to get around St Austell

The town itself seemed tired and dreary.

The town itself seemed tired and dreary. It was hard to find the 'centre' - you need to park at Priory Car Park then walk. The surrounding area has plenty to see. Recommend Wheal Martyn Clay works (and Eden Project, of course!)

The best places to visit were Mevagissey and Charlestown, they both had an old world charm. Fowey was too commercialised and we failed to find somewhere to eat in Looe on Tuesday evening, which was surprising as it looked like a lovely place to spend some time.

St Austell town centre is dated and needs some TLC , but around the ring round is everything you need to make your stay great. Big Asda, lots of resteraunts, and the usual chains. There is some amazing beaches, countryside, walks in and around St Austell. And , it's a brilliant base for all things Cornwall, very well connected. Carlyon and Petewan beaches are fantastic. All in all, really good.

Lovely breakfast, on a tray in bed (though a table and crockery etc are provided) which I needed as I'd gone for work and had had a very long journey the day before and then was working till late, so was tired. Nice 'beach hut' decor and expensive toiletries (I'm very sensitive/allergic to perfumes and always slightly dread cheap toiletries in hotels, but they were very nice). . .Very good value for money. Jess is lovely too. I would stay there again if I'm ever in the area.

We stayed in one of the lodges and it was perfect for our visit. The hotel had left a small milk in the fridge which was perfect for a welcome tea (tea bags and coffee sachet's also supplied). The staff were all lovely and went above and beyond. We had full use of the spa on the day of the check-in. Plenty of parking.

The room was beautifully finished to a really high standard, with a super comfy bed and a phenomenal shower. The staff were genuinely lovely, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. Pier House has all the charm of a B&B but with the polish of a boutique hotel. I’ll definitely be back.
