It's delightfully small and rural.

It's delightfully small and rural. Shopping small and compact. The Minster is worth seeing and they have an extensive shop in Church Street for spouvenirs. Parking was qujte good despite the extra visitors for Bramley Apple Festival Saturday

The town has a very good variety of shops and cafes and it is easily walkable. The Minster and gardens are well worth a visit. There are some lovely, old buildings in the town such as the Saracens Head.

Southwell is a delight.

Southwell is a delight. The Minster and gardens are worth a visit. Everyone we met was very friendly and considerate. A car even stopped to let us cross the road. Maybe the warm weather lifted everyone's spirits.

We were in Southwell for a family birthday lunch held in the Stage venue at the Old Theatre Deli. The food and service were excellent and appreciated by all fifty guests. We also had a first-class meal at the Hearty Goodfellow the previous evening - also highly recommended. Between these two venues lies the golden heart of Southwell - the Minster - a magnificent 12th century Romaneque church, known especially for the delicacy of its stonework - and in particular its rood screen and the carved leaves which adorn the capitals of the Chapter House and elsewhere. The Minster is known as the 'hidden gem' of English Cathedrals - and it is easy to see why. Do visit if you can!

Wow, wow, wow. I booked here for an overnight stay in Southwell as the reviews were really good. I was not disappointed! Such a comfortable and relaxing stay - very well equipped, clean, quiet and just lovely. Being only a 15 minute walk into Southwell, it is perfectly located to enjoy sightseeing and with a large superstore only a short walk away too, so convenient as well. The owners are really helpful and made my stay first class. Thank you Southwell Home Stay. I have no hesitation recommending this property.

A really enjoyable 2 night stay at The Stables. Lovely accommodation in a quiet location. Very well equipped and we loved the fact that the bedrooms/bathrooms were on the ground floor and the living room and kitchen were on the 1st floor. Located in the centre of Southwell so easy to get to the the various cafes, pubs, restaurants and all the local shops. We came for the races at Southwell and only a short 10 minute taxi ride away.

The cottage is a little gem right in the middle of Southwell. It's very olde-worldy and cosy, with sympathetic decor and lovely details such as the pictures dotted around. The kitchen is gorgeous as is the bathroom which handily opens off both bedrooms. There is a car park just behind it.

We were attending the Gateway to Southwell Folk Festival, this house was ideally placed in the town, 5 miles from the venue. The bed was super-comfortable, the kitchen superbly equipped.
