The cutest village with the bonus of a beach.

The cutest village with the bonus of a beach. Lots of places to eat and drink and lots of surrounding walks. It’s like stepping back in time with the cobbled streets, little alleyways and fisherman's cottages.

Staithes is a wonderful old fishing village, wonderful views...

Staithes is a wonderful old fishing village, wonderful views of the coast and moors I would visit again Over our visit we ate in all 3 pubs, The Cod and Lobster served wonderful fresh fish the lobster was to die for We visited The Captain Cook at the top of the hill for Sunday lunch, the beef roast dinner, it was cooked to perfection and the choice of vegetables was second to none. The Royal George became our second home quite near to the cottage we were staying in. The mouth watering crab sandwich that is served with a small salad, crisps or chips, is mouth watering. Just what you need when you are drinking a local brewed beer.

Staithes is well worth the visit - whether you are a weary...

Staithes is well worth the visit - whether you are a weary traveller, a Captain Cook history buff, or a keen Cleveland Way walker you will enjoy this village. The harbour is interesting. I like the Royal George Hotel more than the other hotels in the village. Nearby towns are Whitby and Saltburn-by-the-Sea - both have heaps to offer.

Love Staithes.

Love Staithes. Cute little village, couple of nice pubs, shops and a beach. Perfect for my young family having a short break. Not easy to get around if you have accessibility issues though, be prepared for the steep hill to get down into the village. Been visiting for a few years now and will continue to do so 😊

Perfect (but don't tell anyone).

Perfect (but don't tell anyone). Staithes is a hidden treasure, two good pubs as well as cafés serving food. Crab fishing at high tide and rock pools at low tide. Car parking £8 per day at the top of hill, steep walk down into the village. Not suitable for less mobile persons although it is possible to drive down and drop off but no parking.

Staithes itself is very nice it although it was the Harbour...

Staithes itself is very nice it although it was the Harbour Cottage we stayed that in that spoilt the stay, having to leave a day early because of the awful damp smell in the cottage. Cod and Lobster nice place to eat, food was lovely, also The Royal George food was delicious. No parking down High Street so had to park at top in car park, although allowed to drive down the street to drop luggage off, then drive back to car park.

We were really pleased and impressed with our accommodation. The staff were lovely and helpful, our rooms were clean and generously kitted out with all we needed. The breakfasts were superb and we also had a great evening meal. The location was perfect. We will certainly return. Thank you to all at the Royal George.

Lovely accommodation. Cameron was helpful, friendly and remembered our preferences, his breakfasts were fantastic! Milk and water provided fresh daily and snacks available. Just a really great few days for us in a lovely cosy welcoming place

Excellent location. Quirky cottage, has everything you need. Well stocked with kitchen equipment, dishwasher etc. Food at The Royal George Hotel highly recommended. Must do visit is Runswick Bay, just a mile away, stunning stretch of beach.
