Stirling is a great city for people interested in history and craft - the castle is unique and full of treasures, such as re-created tapestries, carving and decoration. The bus station is a short walk from the castle and shopping streets, and there are several park and rides.

The history of Stirling, it’s pivotal setting as the link between the Highlands and lowland Scotland, it’s Royal connections and it’s impressive buildings made our first visit here memorable. We will certainly come again to explore further. The castle, the Holy Rood church and the historic old river bridge and site of the battle in 1297 (?) were the highlights for us.

The fact that we stayed beside the grounds of the Battle of Bannockburn was fantastic, great history, unfortunately the visitor centre was closed during our stay. We were there for the history and were not disappointed, taking in the Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Battle of Bannockburn, The Kelpies, and the Falkirk Wheel. Having a rental vehicle with built in navigation was a bonus and made getting around so much easier than if doing so strictly by map.

I was only in Stirling for a day , so visited the Wallace monument, which was fantastic! Really informative and if you can make the 246 steps to the top, the view is fantastic! There’s a lovely gift shop and great cafe too .

We stayed one night and actually tried to book another night but the property was fully booked. We visited the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle but ran out of time. We'd happily return again and take a bit more time to look around.

Stirling is a beautiful historic town with many fun sites to see. I needed more time to see them all. Stirling Castle should have a shuttle service bringing people up to the castle, Very limited parking and not conducive if you have a person with walking issues. Plan ahead. Maybe go later in the afternoon when there are less people.

Ideally located near Stirling Castle and near centre of town, this Hotel (previously a school) could be great but it is very old fashioned. The first entrance off the street does not give a good impression with worn carpet, patchy walls and steep stairs. A sign to direct you to the main entrance would be a simple addition and give guests a much better view of the beautiful old building and grand entrance. We received a lovely welcome pack with wine, shortbread and other treats.

We were driving north and Stirling was a great overnight stop, allowing us to visit the castle and the Old Town before moving on. The hotel in the university grounds was both easy to find, and located in a lovely, spacious setting. On arrival the welcome was friendly and we found all the staff, especially the French lady who ran the bar, very efficient but also friendly and relaxed. We really enjoyed our one-night stay, and would readily come here again on another trip.

Quick and easy check in, room was well cleaned and stocked. Had a room at the front of the hotel though had no issues with noise despite keeping the window open through the night. Short walk to the city centre too which is ideal as you have the ability to enjoy Stirling but not worry about the noise from revellers.

I was going to a work night out so just wanted a cheap bed for the night. I was delighted to get a room for £45. That is very cheap for a city centre hotel, so I wasn't expecting a big room, but it was perfect for my needs.
