The whole island is laid back and a gem to visit (when the TT is not running of course). I can imagine how busy it can get at certain times of teh year, but it is well worth digging out. . It has taken me 60 years tio get here. . Too long, and I should have come here years ago! It doesn't matter where you stay on the Island as everwhere is just a short drive away (not a walk for sure), and when the weather is good the mountain road rewards with beautiful views. Easy access to Sulby Glen, Snaefel as well as Ramsey and the north of the island. Situated on main road to Douglas and the south/west of the island but is on the TT course so you'll need to take road closures in to account if you're staying during TT/Manx G.P. periods. Ballacowell is a lovely Bed and Breakfast in Sulby. It is convenient for car drivers but it is also on a bus route. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. They made us feel very comfortable and special. The use of a lounge was important to us and was very comfortable. The garden was easily accessible and a lovely tranquil environment to relax in. Sulby is lovely - small village set close to the Tholt-y-will valley with 2 good pubs both doing good food. Good walking in the area including Tholt-y-will valley, the Curraghs (see the Wallabies), Cronk Sumark hill, the old railway line footpath from Ramsey to Peel.
