Surprisingly not an apocalyptic post-industrial wasteland... the football fans and the people generally are some of the friendliest I have met in my travels around the UK. Ended up walking back across the city to my hotel as the taxis were all busy, quite enjoyed it - even heard owls somewhere down by the river. Why is this advertised as a " Roker Boutique hotel/ apartment " when it's miles away from Roker beach and slap bang in Sunderland city centre amongst immigrants awaiting deportation?!
