We were there for a wedding at the local church but highly satisfied with our choice. The owners are a fantastic couple who made us feel very welcome and told us lots of the local history. We loved the views.

This hotel is extremely outdated and in need of a complete refurbishment, it is dirty and smells of damp. The staff were pleasant but all very young and there didn't seem to be anyone in charge. The food in the restaurant was over priced and poor quality. £28 for a rib eye steak with chips but the steak was chewy and gristly and the chips were undercooked and hard! The price didn't even include a sauce! It was clear that they knew the room was smelling of damp as they had cheap Reed diffusers and air freshners around to try and cover the smell which made it worse! The only thing good about this place is the stunning view from the bedroom window but even that doesn't warrant the £225 the one night stay cost me! Townend farm is a 10 min walk up the road and well worth a visit. The food was good and great value with free kids' meals and a well stocked bar. There is also a well equipped self-catering kitchen. The place has an old fashioned, family run feel to it with lovely cosy rooms and modern facilities. The pub and food were delicious and had an open fire!
