Welwyn is not much bigger than a village but it had plenty of hotels, restaurants and cafes that provided a very good selection of places to stay, eat and drink. As we ate at the White Hart Hotel, we are unable to give an opinion about other eating places. Welwyn was a lovely place to walk around. Unfortunately, the weather was dismal and wet, so we were not able to explore any further than the main street and a few small roads leading off this. There was more traffic than we would have expected but our hotel was very quiet during the night. Welwyn Garden City adjoining Welwyn is obviously a much larger place but we didn't visit this area because of the weather.

Quiet English country village, plenty of pubs, the necessary shops and amenities such as salons and tea rooms etc. Location perfect for visiting local areas such as Welwyn Garden City and Biggleswade.

Wonderful city!

Wonderful city! Loved the old houses and beautiful flowers everywhere- met a few friendly locals and enjoyed a bit of charity shopping. Busses were easy to use and accepted cashless payments which was a bonus. We ate and stayed at The White Hart which was incredible and offered the most amazing food.

Old Welwyn us a sleepy, pretty little village, Welwyn Garden City (a couple of miles, if that) is a lovely little town, lots of restaurants and bars. London is 30 minutes by train. Stay here and commute in if you want a London holiday....

I was in the area to visit family and since they didn't have room for me I stayed in this hotel/restaurant/pub. It was very comfortable and the room was quiet even with the bar downstairs. The bed was comfortable, which is always important! I had the option to have my room refreshed every day if I chose to. Welwyn is a cute village and I always felt safe. I didn't eat in town since I was visiting family but there are lots of places to eat.

The room is really beautiful and has all necessities: very charming with a super comfortable bed! ALL the staff is always very friendly and helpful: Nicole was only on her 3rd day in at work and was managing it like a pro. The restaurant has a very varied menu and the food (including breakfast) is simply delicious. The perfect hotel for a short business trip!

Our room was clean and very comfortable as was the bathroom although the showerhead needs replacing. As in many hotels the lighting was inadequate. No bedside light on one side of the bed and no bulb in one of the overhead lights.
