The hosts sent helpful messages beforehand to give directions to the property and for getting into it. It is located down a quiet residential street just 10 minutes walk from Wem town centre, with its own clearly labelled parking spot directly outside. The Hayloft studio flat is very well designed and beautifully decorated. There is a large comfortable bed, settee and armchair and a small kitchen area with a kettle, fridge, toaster and portable electric hob which enable guests to make hot drinks, snacks or simple meals (all cutlery, crockery, pans, etc supplied). The bathroom has a power shower with two different heads, free environmentally friendly toiletries and a hair dryer. There was ample storage space for hanging or folding clothes, and the apartment was very well lit with a surprising amount of different options, and windows that opened. We didn't need the heating on but there were clear instructions for operating it and even hot water bottles just in case. A very comfortable and cosy place for an overnight stay or as a base for exploring Shropshire.

Quite a small town & we were surprised when we arrived that...

Quite a small town & we were surprised when we arrived that they have half-day closing on a Wednesday. We went to the Castle Pub, food was good & staff were friendly. Just a 10 minute walk from The Old Rectory where we stayed. The hotel only do Light Bites in the evening which is why we ate in The Castle.

easy accessible shops for top up shopping we went to Ellesmere Lake and was a lovely walk with an excellent cafe Being Christmas we spent most of our time at the house and it was great, the space and facilities in the property enabled this and it was easy to be in and a real treat

TO be honest we stayed because the hotel was near to...

TO be honest we stayed because the hotel was near to Shrewsbury. Wem itself looked a bit of an economic disaster with a lot of closed or run down shops. It had clearly seen better days so we didn't bother looking round it having driven through it.

Wem is a nice little town tucked away in beautiful...

Wem is a nice little town tucked away in beautiful countryside just north of Shrewsbury. People there are so friendly and nice and it is a quiet little town. It is a short drive to Shrewsbury and only 30 miles from the beautiful RAF Museum Midlands, which is a must see if you are in the area.

Windows in bedroom in terrible state of repair. Shower constantly changed from very cold to very hot. No proper wardrobe - just hanging space. Couldn't charge to the room from the bar - had to leave credit card behind the bar!!! No drawers in the room. Very, very hot and only one very small fan. Extractor fan in bathroom didn't work. Often no-one at reception. Had to use phone to call someone and often no-one came. Only saving grace was the food. Very good and catered for dairy and gluten free diet.

Our visit was solely for the purpose of getting together with the family and so we stayed in the hotel and sadly we didn't have an opportunity to visit Wem, so I can't offer any opinion on the attractions of the town.
