Merewood was an exceptional stay. The old home is gorgeous and the staff was friendly. The rooms themselves had a stunning view, comfy beds, a cozy feel, and were stocked extremely well with toiletries. The location itself is a bit remote, but we appreciated the quiet. It's easy enough to order a taxi to get to town, just give yourself an extra 10-15 minutes for them to arrive. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be returning.

Windermere town centre is small but has plenty of cafes and restaurants to meet all food lovers types. There are a good selection of shops for gifts etc. and all are within a few hundred yards and not too far from the railway station or buses to travel to other parts of the lakes. It is also a 10 to 15 minute walk to Bowness (downhill) which is also the place to hop on to the lake boats or alternative dining or shopping and the Beatrix Potter experience. My pictures are of the lake side in Bowness

We had our honeymoon in Windermere many years ago, so revisiting places. Windermere is a beautiful location with plenty to do for all the family. Easy to get around with buses to the Lakes if no car. Went on the Ravenglass steam train, which was amazing highly recommend.

The area is stunningly beautiful and the people are so friendly and chatty. It was a real pleasure to be there. I'd recommend a day tour just so you see everything. Driving around the hills was hair-raising, another reason to take a tour. The town Bowness was a bit tacky and touristy.

The hotel has many onsite parking spaces. A short distance to the Windermere town centre, however, walking to the Windermere Lake took much longer than we had expected. The economy double room is spacious enough for 2 people. The bathroom was new and clean. The central heating switch/temperature control wasn’t working. It was on all the time which made the room too hot, so we needed to leave the window open. Breakfast menu had good choices. Breakfast staff were attentive.

Charlie was an exceptional host helped us with our bags to the room and explained everything perfectly . The hotel was impeccably clean, modern and had great spa facilities . Our breakfast was delicious and loved that we could have it to our room. Location is perfectly situated between busy Windermere on the left and a quieter town to the right . Glass of bubbly on arrival and great cocktail menu .
