We stayed for 4 nights, and we loved everything about this hotel. We’d read some reviews that mentioned the sketchy neighborhood. Take those reviews with a big grain of salt. It’s not sketchy. It’s just Athens. It’s centrally located but not in the center of all the super touristy stuff. It’s close to the metro, an easy trip to the Acropolis and all the sites. It’s a quick walk to several awesome restaurants, wine bars, and cocktail bars. Not touristy spots. We avoid those. The room was perfect. Comfortable bed. Super clean. The shower was insanely awesome. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. The bar on the 8th floor is outstanding. They make seriously good cocktails. And the breakfast in that same room is excellent. We highly recommend this hotel.

The staff was great and very helpful. We were early arriving and they took care of our luggage until we returned from exploring the area and would have taken our luggage to our room but we declined that service. Everything was great.

FAQs about hotels in Athens

Dynamic City With 3400 Years of History

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.

A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.

The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

We had visited Athens many times before: it is a complicated city, with a complicated past, so you have to put this into account when visiting. At the same time, we could see that a lot is developing: new museums (we really enjoyed the Maria Callas) and many new restaurants and bars.

The city is bustling and the views of the Acropolis from every angle are awe inspiring. There was some ruin or fantastic food to discover on every journey. Be prepared to walk a lot and there are steps and hills everywhere, but the sights are all worth seeing when you get where you’re going. Public transportation is easy to use. I highly recommend 3-4 days in Athens and a few short tours to outside the city.

Athens is dusty, dirty, graffitied and delapitated! But, I can't wait to go back! It is vibrant and bohemian with something to see in every corner. The coffee shops and eateries are everywhere. It's chaos. Plants cascading from buildings and chonky cats that look well looked after and most looked neutered. Loved it. Great city with a great vibe.

The location was ideal as I was travelling from Athens the next day on the Ktel bus to Delphi. It was a short walk from the bus station. It was especially good as my Barclays account and the Greek bus company could not work together and I was unable to reserve my bus tickets until I got to Greece. Staying at the Roy meant I could go in person the day before I travelled. The hotelier explained the safety features of the room to me, which was excellent.

The owners are very nice and helpful. The house is fully equipped, comfortable. Athens centre is an hour away by public transport. We would love to come again. Paidon is everything it advertised. And a perfect place to stay as my end-of-trip accommodation. I was able to do simple cooking, launder all my dirty clothing and, of course, see more of Athens and Greece. It is only a 5-minute walk to the bus stop where I caught the X95 express bus to the airport. And the boss was very professional, polite and pleasant in handling my requests.

Aris and his team are without doubt the friendliest and most hospitable Hotel operators I have ever met. It felt like home. They greeted us with warmth at all times of the day and were always on hand to share recommendations for Athens and wider around Greece, or to simply chat and enjoy a drink at reception.
