The beaches through the forest were amazing, clean peaceful with no sports, music. Food and drinks available and very kind people. Local restaurants were very good and reasonable as were the supermarkets. The bus service is brilliant. Would definitely visit again.

Koukounaries is really just a single (quite busy) road that...
Koukounaries is really just a single (quite busy) road that runs behind a lake from one end of the Koukounaries beach to the other. The beach itself is fine golden sand with lots of facilities (loungers, boat and pedallo hire, bars and cafes), there is also public toilets in the centre of the beach ( a rarity in Greece) and is about 1km long. It gets very busy during the day. Access is easy as there is a regular bus from Skiathos town that stops along the road. There is also a Water Bus boat service from Skiathos town harbour ( cost E7 each way PO). There is also a car park at the Western end of the road but it does get filled up early.
The main road is home to numerous bars, restaurants, hotels and apartment blocks and two small supermarkets.
There is a small scruffy section in the centre of the road where there is a derelict hotel and apartment block that needs tidying up.
For those who like there beaches more stripped back there is also 4 or 5 beaches on the northern section of the peninsula within a 20 or 30 minute walk from the road.
You can walk along the shore of the lake but you cannot easily walk all around because of thick vegetation at the eastern end.

Walkable distance to the beaches, going through the pine forest or the wet land in Koukounaries (loved the smell in the pine forest and of the wild herbs colse to it).
Bus station very close, can get fairly easy in Skiathos town.

Nice beach, but a bit overcrowded (in the number of persons / number of sunbeds). Although, in the see you don't feel the crowd.
Koukounaries is a bit far away from Skiathos Town (45 minutes to 1 hour the bus drive). small market shops in koukounaries are very expensive (at least 2 times more than a usual supermarket, while the selection of products is limited).

Peaceful and tranquil surroundings, out of town location (15min drive), lot's of beaches to choose from in walking distance. You can find great options for lunch and dinner that's cost effective and very tasty!

Koukounaries is a remote village surrounded by forest, 15-30 minutes walk to very beautiful beaches. I missed the seaviews and the nightlife. None of the properties in this area has seaview, because there is a lake and a forest that separates the main road from the beach. I would recommend to rent a car or something else to go to the beaches around. When it is very hot, it is not comfortable to walk 30 minutes under the sun. Bear in mind that the area is full of rats, especially if the property is in the wood. My friends ( 6 families) were staying at Driades and I was terrified to see rats in the garden among children playing. Not to mention at night! ( of course we have photos and videos)
I have eaten at Under the pine, which is nice and at Big Bad Wolf, where we have paid 12 euros for the bread! But the seabass and the lamb chops were perfect.
The beaches nearby are quite beautiful. My favorite was Mandraki Elias. Agia Eleni is a nice beach, too. Koukounaries is very crowded, but it is ok to go for a day or two.

Excellent Stay in Skiathos – Highly Recommended!
Our stay at this hotel in Skiathos was wonderful. The apartment was well-organized, clean, and had everything we needed. Towels and blankets were changed regularly, and the entire apartment was cleaned daily.
The host, Mr. Panos, was very attentive and always helpful. He went above and beyond to assist us when our son had an ear infection, which we truly appreciated.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Skiathos and at this accommodation. I highly recommend it—100%!

We were pleasantly surprised with a completely unexpected and beautiful upgrade to the Nest Infinity room with a hot tub. Staff is very kind, friendly and accommodating! The selection of different areas and beaches in the resort is unmatched - you can watch both - sunrise and sunset from the beaches reached by foot or a complementary buggy. Food and coffee were great. Housekeeping and hot tub cleaning were done exemplary well! Our chihuahua dog travelling with us also had one of the best times of her life!

The south facing private pool, all the rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. High level of privacy. Being able to use the village hotel restaurant (excellent food) / bar.
Koukounaries beach is a short walk (10 minutes) away and truly beautiful. For those who like hiking, there are footpaths across that tip of the island close-by.

Very close to Koukounaries Beach. The staff is super friendly and helpfull, knowing a lot about the region and the daily conditions in the area. The views from the balcony and main terrace are beautiful, AC works pretty well and you can close the shutters so the night sleep was perfect.
