Mesta should be a world heritage site.
Mesta should be a world heritage site. This beautiful stone village is like a step back in time, it's so well preserved and authentic. It's a delight to wander the narrow alleys and relax in the little main square. There's plenty to do around the area as well - nearby mastica villages Olympi and Pyrgi are also wonderful day trips, and there are lots of lovely beaches around too. One thing to note is that Mesta doesn't have a few modern things you might need, like an ATM, gas station, pharmacy, doctor, supermarket, etc. You have to drive about 15-20 minutes to Pyrgi for those things. The beautiful, charming and well preserved medieval fortress village was well worth our time and a great location to explore the other "Mastichochoria" & gorgeous beaches from and the locals were friendly & welcoming.
