Coban is a relay station to reach other places in Guatemala and as such, there is not a lot going on inside the city itself. I highly recommend taking half a day to visit Las Victorias National Park, which is inside the city limits. A former plantation, the park is replete with the flora & fauna of central Guatemala and has an amazing history! I went by myself on a Sunday morning (since I could not locate an organized tour) and every person I encountered on the trails stopped to chat and offer additional local knowledge.Guest review byBrenda-LouiseUnited States - 10.0

COBAN is a very beautiful town and there is an Ancient Cathedral in front of the Central Park. There's a local market where you can find handwoven typical clothing and other handcrafted products made by the natives. There are good restaurants also, like HDR (Hacienda Don Rafa), El PE-NASCAL, where you can order dishes of Mayan origins, like KACK-IK for example. There are places of extreme beauty near Coban with plenty of very low price transportation. You can visit the Central Market located only 6 minutes on the outskirts of Coban. The dorm is just a set of bunk beds so I had a private room for the night. Warm shower. The breakfast was the best I've had at any hotel/hostel ever. There is a kitchen guests can use but they charge Q20 to use it. They helped me with the bus to Lanquín and transport from Lanquín to Antigua, but it would have been Q25 cheaper to book the transport to Antigua in Lanquín. And if you book a shuttle in Lanquín they pick you up and you don't have to go to the bus stop yourself.Guest review byAydenEcuador

There is a restaurant with a good breakfast, but other meals are basic with minimal choice. The surroundings are green and lush, which can make the rooms a bit damp and musty. Lovely and friendly staff (who spoke nice and slow Spanish especially for us!) Helped us organise a shuttle to Antigua and a trip to the very excellent coffee plantation at Chicoj.
