I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Vallum in Cavtat. The staffs were wonderful, friendly and always ready to help. The highlight was the beautiful sea view and stunning sunsets right from my en suite room. The accommodation was very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped with everything I needed, including an iron, gown, slippers, and a well-stocked kitchen. The hotel is about a 15–20 minute walk from the town, with plenty of restaurants along the way. We also had dinner on the island of St. Pietro, where the hotel offers guests a 20% discount in the restaurant and lounge, as well as arranging a skipper boat to and from the island – such a unique experience! There are lots of sea activities right next door, and Zal Beach, only a 10-minute walk away, is a fantastic spot for swimming. Overall, my stay was relaxing, memorable, and exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend Hotel Vallum to anyone visiting Cavtat.

Cavtat is the perfect homebase for visiting Croatia. It's a cozy walkable seaside village with many restaurants, and not overrun with tourists like Dubrovnik. To see Dubrovnik it's easy and cheap to do a day trip from Cavtat, with boats departing many times per day. As a bonus Cavtat is not far from the airport.

For me it’s too late in the year for sea swimming but not...

For me it’s too late in the year for sea swimming but not for sunbathing if that’s your thing. Not for me, good weather is important for boat trips and exploring further afield and this is a good base for that but can be pricey. Nothing much to do in Cavtat at this time of year and basically it all closes down on 31st October. Half the restaurants are still open but I don’t know for how much longer and they are also pricey. Dinner for two with a drink and a glass of wine is is very easily €100 plus. The whole town gets dressed up and comes out for a walk on Sunday. Very nice, just like Italy or Spain. My overall impression is that tourists are coming with holiday money and they want as much of it as possible. I suppose that’s how you only open for 6 or 7 months of the year. So, nice place and a lovely hotel at reasonable price ( but that may be because it was closedown time?) but be ready to spend!

1) It's a small village, so I expected food to be more...

1) It's a small village, so I expected food to be more affordable. Instead, I found a bunch of expensive restaurants. It was the end of the season meaning not many tourists. Still, no discounts, ridiculous prices. I mean 25 eur for a modest pizza, what's that really??? 2) Public parking is virtually non-existant. If you travel by car, make sure your host arrange you a parking spot.

Very nice town with great restaurants and bars overlooking the harbour. Only 7 mins taxi ride from Dubrovnik airport. Boat rides into Dubrovnik take around 50 mins, local bus takes about the same time. Nice places within easy walking distance for a swim in the sea. Would highly recommend Cavtat for a relaxing break.

Very laid back place to visit ,amazing scenery ,very nice helpful locals and only ten minutes from the airport.Really nice walks in the area and a very good bus service to Dubrovnik.Food was really good and reasonably priced .

Great location with many bars and restaurants. Seaside location is fantastic. Town is clean and well maintained and away from the very busy Dubrovnik Old Town. It is on the flight path to Dubrovnik Airport but you don’t really notice the planes. BBQ restaurant was good value.

This hotel is up there with the best. From the moment you walk in you know it’s going to be 5 star treatment and it didn’t disappoint. Very handy if you want to do a day trip to Dubrovnik but it’s just as lovely to stay and use the gorgeous pool facilities with drinks and food on hand. The rooms are clean and stylish, and I can’t say enough about the staff. We have travelled a lot and have never had such kind friendly staff they really make the difference and allowed us to enjoy our stay there so much more.

Beautiful apartment, really clean and modern, bed was super comfy. The rooftop pool was amazing! We went in August so high season but often had it to ourselves, enough loungers and the view was absolutely gorgeous. 5 min walk to Cavtat Marina area & easy enough to do day trips to other parts of Croatia such as Dubrovnik! The staff were lovely too really helpful and gave us recommendations for food etc.

Željka is a very kind host, she is welcoming and available to help. Our room was very spacious and had everything you could need, including a big terrace. The bed was huge and very comfortable! The location was great, it’s a very short walk into Cavtat town which we really enjoyed exploring as a last stop on our Croatia trip. We wish we stayed another night or two.
