A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels on offer in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes your choice completely easy.

Budapest is a beautiful city!

Budapest is a beautiful city! People are very friendly, and the city is full of history. The contrast between the modern and the old that you see in the streets is just incredible — every corner is perfect for a photograph! 📸

Fantastic city with so much to offer.

Fantastic city with so much to offer. Highlights for us were the ruin bars in Jewish quarter and the sunday flee market which was massive. We also loved our sunset river cruise on the Danube and St Stephens Bascilica. The streets around the Bascilica are expensive for shopping and very touristy as most of the mid price shops are now in shopping centres outside of the city. So i recommend heading to the flee market in the Jewish quarter which is outdoor indoor and loads of amazing handmade gifts, vintage items and local artists. There is also a food market and local produce every sunday inside Szimpla Kert the main ruin bar. It is such fascinating eccelctic place full of plants and graffiti in old ruins of a building. Overall we found it to be one of rhe most interesting cities we have visited and so much variety and lots of delicious food to try if you are a foodie. Basically whatever you want. Every street had a cafe or restaurant. All in all a fantastic city and so interesting and varied for all tastes.

A Few Days in Timeless Budapest

A Few Days in Timeless Budapest Budapest is one of those cities that quietly steals your heart. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by its graceful blend of history and life — the grand old buildings standing proudly along streets that hum with stories of the past. The city feels alive yet serene, elegant yet warm, as if time itself moves a little slower here. One morning, I had brunch at The Brunch Café, perfectly set by the bank of the Danube. The gentle river breeze, the scent of fresh coffee, and the view of sunlight dancing on the water made it an unforgettable moment. Sitting there, I felt the rhythm of the city reflected in the flow of the river — calm, steady, and full of quiet beauty. Later that day, I found myself at Anonymus Bar & More (Kós Károly sétány 1., Vajdahunyad vár 1146), nestled beside the enchanting Vajdahunyad Castle. It felt like stepping into a storybook. The atmosphere was cozy and a little mysterious, the kind of place where time slips away over a cup of tea and the sound of soft laughter drifts through the air. Budapest, with its glowing lights mirrored in the Danube and its rich cultural soul, left me deeply moved. It’s a city that doesn’t just impress you — it lingers in your memory, whispering for you to return.

During my second visit to this remarkable city, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I recommend staying near downtown Budapest to take advantage of its excellent attractions, opportunities for extensive walks, and its rich historical heritage. There are excellent restaurants and cosy coffee shops, with Opera Garden Coffee Shop being my favourite—try their pistachio croissant. Be sure to prebook classical concerts; I missed several because I didn’t book early. Including a traditional Hungarian goulash meal as well as sampling the notable selection of Hungarian red wines is recommended for an authentic culinary experience.

Incredible city that I would love to spend more time in.

Incredible city that I would love to spend more time in. So much stunning architecture, great food, and easy public transportation. Yet given its long history, a city filled with modern conveniences.

This is my 2nd visit in 15 months. I actually upgraded to a junior suite !!! Absolutely luxurious for only an extra £20 a night. One of the best city break hotels I have stayed in from all over Europe. Spotless, luxurious, most friendliest staff I have ever met. Best location in centre but very quiet and still private. 5 mins from Danube, shops, restaurants and easy to catch transport to attractions. Can’t rate this hotel highly enough to anyone visiting Budapest. More like a 5 star hotel!

Nice place with excellent breakfast and beautiful patio, professional service and Corner for kids as well as high chairs which we as parents appreciated a lot. They have garage, 25eur for 24h. Hotel is well maintained and looks nice. It's around 25-30min walk to city centre. Place was comfy for sleeping which is what we craved after few days on the road. Also it was very clean. Few bugs entered but that's issue in Budapest generally on every place I ever stayed there.

Easy to find, just a minute away from the tram that takes you to the city centre for 25 min. There is a shopping centre within 5 min drive with a car. Next to the hotel there is a winery where you can buy Hungarian sparkling wine. The rooms are good enough with spacious bathrooms and plenty of towels. The rooms have a balcony with private jacuzzi that you can use. The water temperature is 40 degrees celsius. The parking is big and free (a rare finding in Budapest).

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Stories in Budapest. The staff is very nice, friendly and helpful, the apartments are spacious, beautifully decorated, warm and comfortable. Incredibly beautiful garden, restaurant in the atrium, location in the very center of Budapest... All these together makes this hotel the best choice for accommodation when visiting the beautiful capital of Hungary.
