Friwen Mangrove was absolutely the best place we stayed in Raja Ampat! It is a pretty new place. The owner, Rachid, did an amazing job. The water bungalows are very luxurious and comfortable with an amazing view. He has Starlink, so good wifi 7/24. Thanks to solar panels he put, we had electric 7/24 as well. Famous Friwen Wall is just across the bungalows which is a super plus. The surrounding reefs are also beautiful. Rachid organizes very nice excursions as well to many places. And the food - literally the best food we had in RA. Lots of varities for lunch and dinner, plus the nice & fun conversations. We had the best time thanks to his warm hospitality. Must stay place.

Closeness to nature, which is still unspoiled. Lots of birds, fishes and ofcourse the marine life that is easy accessible from PapuArts Alter Native Stay. Family feeling; easily to feel at home with this lovely family of four (Helga, Timon and their 2 beautiful young daughters who love to make friends). Oh, and I forgot their two sweet dogs Ringo & Dingo 🐾🐾 Owners are very helpful and speak several languages so easy to communicate with them. Internet is sometimes a bit unstable so take that into account when expecting speedy replies (sometimes it just doesn’t work and patience is a good thing to have). The food - home style cooking (breakfast, lunch and dinner are all cooked by the owner and her team and she is a great cook; we loved every meal which was perfectly catered to our vegetarian / pescatarian wishes) The rooms are close to nature as well, with very comfy beds (we stayed in both the smaller and the biggest family room, which easily fits 3 respectively 4 people; the 3rd bed in the smaller room has a wonderful treehouse feeling and there is a bunkbed in the biggest room). Hard to capture the beauty of the rooms in just one picture (I took several but could only post one here with my review). You can hear the sea and birds from your bedroom. It’s right next to you. No frills, just natural materials, which we loved. Also no warm water, but easily to get used to. There’s a shower and mandi style shower. Also your own toilet. Plus the blue blue sea right at your doorstep and a lovely sitting area with a hammock to complete the zen-feeling. There’s a long jetty into the sea with a perfect spot for exercise/meditation/yoga at the end. Fitness with a view! It’s quiet and feels very private. You instantly feel relaxed here. Different excursions to choose from, both on land and on/under the sea. Please note: these come at an extra cost and Raja Ampat area is not cheap!!!! in front of the stilt house there is a wonderful coral reef. corals of all shapes and colors, fish of all kinds, colors and sizes. turtles, 🦈 sharks, puffer fish, scorpion🐠🐟🐋🐡 all there at 100 meters. We really liked the hospitality of Thina, ❤️a woman and exceptional, attentive to every detail, excellent cook and a perfect organizer for all excursions. she and her family made us feel right at home 😍

I only stayed here one night but it had a good prize considering the beautiful beach front and the AC. Meals are pais apart but it is not expensive. They offer you water and coffee all day. People working there are really nice. They have several cabins but the place has enough space not to feel too close to your neightbors. The deck is also really nice; beach is flat and warm and mostly sand, so it is not a snorkling place.

I loved it here. My favourite place in Raja. Amazing beach and great snorkelling right in front of the bungalow. When the tide is high you can just jump in. Even though Kri is the most touristy island, it's quiet here because it's the furthest away homestay in the area. So at night you can only hear the waves breaking in front of or underneath your bungalow, and sure, the occasional gecko laughing or dog barking, but otherwise it is peaceful here. As for the accommodation, it was basic but I had everything I needed. The food was delicious. Best I had in Raja. Fish, chicken, eggs, sauces, lots of vegetables, green pancakes with peanut butter, banana cake and bread, fried banana, papaya, watermelon... and coffee, tea and instant chocolate. All in all, I really enjoyed being there. After just a few days it felt like home. So after 5 days, it was hard to leave this amazing homestay.

The homestay is idyllic and secluded. We were right on the water, the porch is nicely decorated, there's a table and chairs so in the evenings we could easily play cards. In the day, if we weren't diving with Corepen (they come and collect you and drop you off), we would snorkel on the coral reef in front of the homestay which is fantastic! We saw a turtle, ray, squid, clown fish, a shark etc. All three meals are included and Lina's cooking is amazing. We would eat fresh fish everyday. Portion size is very generous so you won't be going hungry. Lina and Arnes are so kind and gentle hosts we couldn't recommend this more. Their English is very limited so just make sure you download a translator app if you don't have data (there's no WiFi). The amenities are basic and you get electricity from around 6:30pm-10:30pm but for us, this only added to its charm. When we passed other homestays, we were always grateful for picking Efenli.

Exceptionally great staff. Property with great access to good house reef. Spaced out and Nicely set out grounds in peaceful natural surroundings. Standard of accommodation high. Fabulous beautifully cooked lunch and supper. Only open a year and still developing and will only get better I think. Staff will help manage your ferry transit and arrange trips to suit your personal interests.

Just enjoyed six nights at Aldejus, diving each day with Tarzan Diving. Aldejus is a lovely homestay with friendly staff and excellent service. There are en suite western bathrooms with hot and cold running water - unusual for the area - good beds, fans and power from 6pm to 6am. Food is excellent and quite varied with fish, chicken, vegetables, fruit and more. The staff will make packed lunches on request for all-day trips. Cold beer and soft drinks are available but do bring anything else you want to drink e.g. sugar free soda and tonic water both of which are difficult to source in Papua. The island itself and Friwen village are quiet and peaceful, and pleasant to walk around. The friendly owner will help arrange transport from Sorong airport and various other activities during your stay e.g. snorkeling, birdwatching etc
