The lady was very kind and helpful, I definitely recommend this hotel! The rooms are even nicer in real life — I loved it. Everything was very clean and the food was great. Super convenient if you’re taking the boat the next day, as the hotel is right on the port.

We had to book one night in Padang Bai, because our travel plans changed, and a friend recommended Puri Rai to us. We couldn't have decided better! We got a big room directly at the swimming pool, with very comfortable beds and a large bathroom. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was delicious. The location of the hotel is directly at the harbour, and so it's easy to hop on\off a boat to the Gilis, Lombok and other islands. PS: We visited the nearby Blue Lagoon beach, it's nice but the waves were a bit rowdy, and so we decided to get back to the hotel and chill out at the pool. PS2: if you'd like to eat some delicious local meals (large portions for small prices), make sure to visit the Martini's warung at the nearby municipal parking lot.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries. There are plenty of eateries around. The beach is unfortunately littered with rubbish and stray dogs roam around. It’s not somewhere to stay for long. There is a dive centre so it might be good for that, but for me as a general tourist I wouldn’t take a holiday here. I just stayed for the fast boats.

Padangbai took me back in time to the Bali of old.

Padangbai took me back in time to the Bali of old. Its quite rustic and primitive looking in parts. Most of the restaurants are quite old. We only ate at our hotel OK Divers Resort, where the restaurant and food was very good. NIce place to visit but only a couple of days at most.

Contrary to some reviews of Padangbai being a dodgy back...

Contrary to some reviews of Padangbai being a dodgy back water town, we found it to be a hidden gem. Lovely beaches and good places to swim and snorkel. Much smaller than I anticipated and far less humbug and mass tourism than other parts of Bali. Would definitely recommend staying here a couple of days, especially if catching an onward boat to other islands in Indonesia.

There is a photo of Padang Bai in the right upper corner of this page. I wonder where it was taken because Padang Bai does not look anything like that! Padang Bai is a bussy port and the beach is not suitable for swimming! This is not a place to spend holidays.

Amazing location close to the harbour to take the boat to Gili islands. We checked in almost 3am in the morning because our flight got delayed and they were very comprehensive about it, Excelent breakfast, the owner is so helpful and kind. amazing rooms for only one or 2 nights. I strong recommend this place.

We thought we might need a night to stop over before getting...

We thought we might need a night to stop over before getting the boat onto the Gili islands but in hindsight we could have done it all in the same day. There is not much happening here so I do not recommend staying long, there are some nice cafes to chill at if you are here. There appears to be some diving schools if that is what you are looking for. Recommend Omang Omang restaurant and bar for nightlife, good food options and bands playing.

What an absolute dream villa. You have to see it to believe it. It's a work of art and also offers the most incredible views of Padangbai. The sunrise from my bedroom blew me away. Marcel and Made are so lovely and helped me change my ferry to a more direct route. Also offered to look after my things while I travel to the islands. I'm very happy I'll be spending my last night in Bali here. Special shout out to the adorable tortoises.
