Solène and Stéphane are the best hosts you could ever imagine, they are bringing such a good energy on this pristine resort with magnificent view! Stéphane took us for a dawn patrol surf sessions with the quads, and spent a lot of time with us on the evening ☺️. We will definitely come back!

This was hands down one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. I was in complete awe the entire time — everything about it was just incredible. Imelda and the girls were so warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind, we were treated like family from the moment we arrived. The accommodation itself is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views and peaceful surroundings, plus the bonus of free-roaming animals which made it feel even more magical. The home-cooked meals were delicious every time, clearly made with love and care. They were also super helpful with local recommendations and sorted out things like scooter rentals for us with no fuss. The room was airy and spacious, and the bed was massive and insanely comfortable, we slept so well. The outdoor shower was also an amazing touch. We would come back to an impeccably clean room every day too!! Thank you so, so much to beautiful Imelda and the girls — we’ll never forget this experience. Can’t wait to come back one day xx

Staying at Villa Morika was one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after you leave. We didn’t just fall in love with the place, we fell in love with Sumba itself. And that happened because of the incredible staff. From the very first moment, we were welcomed not as guests, but as family. The team here doesn’t just take care of you, they share their world with you. They taught us about Sumba culture, traditions, the local language, the stories behind the land, and the spirit of the island. Every conversation felt meaningful, warm, and genuine. It is difficult to put into words how deeply this touched us. The villa itself was stunning, beautifully designed, cozy, and spotlessly clean. Waking up to the open horizon and the sound of nature felt like a dream. The atmosphere is peaceful and pure in a way that is hard to find anywhere else. The beauty of Villa Morika is undeniable, the views, the sunrises, the raw nature, the deep silence. But what makes this place truly unforgettable is the heart behind it. The staff cooked for us with so much love, guided us with patience, laughed with us, and created moments that felt almost sacred. We have traveled to many places in the world, but Sumba is special. Villa Morika is special. And the people here are the reason. We are leaving with full hearts, deeper understanding, and the feeling of having gained something meaningful. We already know that we will come back. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for everything. You gave us a piece of Sumba that we will carry forever.

Staying at The Rua Room in Umarato Villa was an experience straight out of a dream. The moment I stepped onto the balcony, I was greeted by a breathtaking ocean view that stretched as far as the eye could see. The sound of waves crashing against the shore created the perfect soundtrack to accompany the stunning vista. But the real gem of this room was the outdoor bathtub nestled amidst the natural beauty of the surroundings. Immersing myself in warm water while surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature was an experience like no other. It was a moment of pure serenity and relaxation, allowing me to unwind and truly connect with the environment. The attention to detail in The Rua Room was impeccable, from the luxurious furnishings to the thoughtful amenities provided. The hotel is beautifully designed and in a beautiful area very close to some picturesque beaches. The staff are very friendly and attentive and make it easy to organise trips and activities so you can experience Sumba. Surf lessons are a lot of fun and the village tour and waterfall tour are both great. Cocktails were really good, as was the food at breakfast. The hotel seems to have a good relationship with the local people and seems to have genuinely benefitted Sumba.

I stayed at Sumba retreat for a week in October , I loved my stay, the staff are such beautiful people and every guest I met during my trip was a legend! The room is very clean and comfortable. The surrounding are extremely magical and beautiful ! I hope to come back again and stay longer.
