Cracking City of Craic
Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.
The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly coloured shops and restaurants.
Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which offers an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.
Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.

Galway is a really nice town to find trad music, good drinks and good food. Lots of nice shops and the people are incredibly welcoming. Very beautiful scenery and located close to many must see places while in Ireland, Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park, The Burren, Cliffs of Moher the beautiful bay. Def worth the visit when you are in Western Ireland. Very easy to get around either by foot or car, plenty of parking available (parking garage in the city centre is perfect but not free) and so much see and do it's worth spending at least 2-3 days there if you can.Guest review byRitaUnited States - 10.0

Galway is a beautiful city. We were there on a Saturday and the city was busy and vibrant. Visited Galway cathedral and the Galway museum, walked the waterfront, shopped, saw sites and had a lovely lunch. Plenty of parking garages.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Was in Galway two years ago but only had a day. The three nights with two full days was perfect. I visited the Galway City Museum, Spanish Arch, ate at Handsome Burger. I visited St. Nicholas Collegiate Church--lots of history there. I took the hop-on-hop off bus to get a better view of all the locations. Galway is a beautiful city with plenty to do and see. Staying close to the center will help avoid the traffic build up during the commute. It is a walking city, with lots of places to visit, the Cathedral, Abbey, Eyre Square, Quay Street. Great food, Guinness and the locals are welcoming.Guest review byTrill - 8.0

Free parking for guests. the hotel is about a mile and half to Eyre Square but is mostly down hill or flat. The rooms are comfortable and the walls and floors are very sound proofed. it is a fantastic base for the Wild Atlantic Way and day trips. The suite we had was really fantastic, with a separate living room and views everywhere. Nice breakfast. We've been there in not the best weater, so the hotel was not really lively, with everybody in their rooms, although parking was full. Right in the city center next to all major attractions, landmarks, pubs and restaurants. Recently renovated, rooms and common areas feel clean and welcoming. The room is extremely spacious and cozy, providing astonishing view of the river Corrib (see image from my window below). Breakfast providing many options, making me happy.
