Town is very nice and improving since all the traffic has been diverted on to new ring road. Castle and environs are lovely for walking etc. Ate in Castle Hotel and coffee shop, which was very good and well priced. There for food festival which brought buzz to the weekend. Easy to park and very walkable. Friendly people everywhere

A very friendly and natural, rural Irish town.

A very friendly and natural, rural Irish town. People were relaxed and friendly and there were some beautiful walks along rivers and lakes. Easy access to stunning mountains and surrounding scenery. Well worth a visit to see a natural Irish way of life.

Just stayed on the hotel for one night - hotel was clean and comfortable, staff were really pleasant and breakfast was good. Bar Food was finished by 8.15pm which was a minor disappointment as we were late arrivals (arrived before 8.30pm)...but overall no issues with the accommodation.

Excellent gateway to west Cork and a destination in its own right by the Castle remnants of the MacCarthy Muskerry Lords of Gaelic Ireland, and along the Banks of the Sulán River. Perfect for visiting peaceful, stunning Gougane Barra, Máigh Cromtha, land of the Caoineadh Art O Laoghaire has it going on, nice cafe by Castle market gates too, also the nearby Ghaorthaidh , the only alluvial "drowned" forest in Europe , Paddy Hodnett the whiskey coinneuseur worth a shout into if travelling onto Inchydoney and the Clonakilty Distillery

Great little cottage with spectacular views. Surprisingly well stocked with coffee, tea, cereals, orange juice, milk etc. which was much appreciated considering our late night arrival. Also well stocked with toiletries. Hotel-quality décor, furnishings, towels etc. - it was only a pity we had a busy schedule and could not enjoy the place more.

Mary was an excellent host - very welcoming and helpful. The house is located in the countryside and so is quiet and peaceful but it is close to Macroom. The breakfast was excellent - plenty of choices with beautiful home made bread and scones.

I was working in the area for 2 days and spent the night in Cannaway House. It was very relaxing, beautiful countryside and very close to main Cork Macroom road. I liked sitting in the garden and the spacious bar/conservatory.
