This place is run by Vijeesh in his family home and has been in business for 15 years for a reason! The rooms are very nicely designed with outdoor spaces to relax. The common dining area is a lovely place to enjoy the delicious home cooked food--You have the option to order lunch and dinner. The boat trips are absolutely unforgettable due to the stunning scenery and abundant nature in the area. There was also a strong wifi signal. As a lifelong traveller, this is the kind of place I'm always delighted to find.

I had a wonderful stay with a warm, welcoming family! I was well taken care of throughout my visit. The room was cozy and clean, and the food was absolutely amazing. They provided plenty of information and recommendations on where to go and what to do—from a morning boat tour to kayak and bicycle rentals, plus laundry facilities, everything you need was available. Keep in mind that the homestay is a bit remote, further from the main river, but I found this to be an advantage. It allowed me to rent a kayak and explore the small canals easily. Additionally, the homestay is within walking distance from the train station—if you choose to walk, follow the road near the temple.

Devika and her family are very warm and kind. They made us feel at home. The homestay is peaceful and very clean with a wonderful garden, and Devika cooks the most delicious meals. We did the sunrise boat trip with Devika's father in law, which was beautiful. Thanks for everything!

One of the best accomodation experience I had in India ! We loved our 2 night stay here with Unni and his family and wholeheartedly agree with all the positive comments in previous reviews. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with big smiles from the whole family. Our room upstairs was spotlessly clean with comfy bed and a nice balcony to sit on. All the food is home cooked with pride and I’d recommend you find time and space for the lunch ! We ate all our meals here , you won’t find better. We did the sunrise boat tour which was beautiful and Unni arranged bike hire for us which was a great way to explore the island , walking is hot but you have a nice breeze with a bike ! Don’t miss a visit to the lovely ladies at the cotton weaving factory and the coir factory. Very hardworking ladies in small ‘sheds’ who are happy to see you and show off their skills. No payment asked but take some smaller notes as a little ‘coffee’ money is appreciated! Make a stop at the ‘Mocktail’ bar for a delicious juice. Don’t be put off by its rustic appearance! Thank you Unni and family and wishing you all the best for the future.

What I enjoyed most about Munroe Island was the quiet,...

What I enjoyed most about Munroe Island was the quiet, especially early in the morning on the Kallada River with still water, soft light and nothing but birds in the background. My favourite spots were the narrow canals lined with mangroves, the little temple area where daily life flows around the river and the small coir workshop across the water. We ate at our homestay, Munroe Heritage Inn, where the host cooked dinner for us at the last minute and breakfast was excellent, especially the coconut chutney. Getting around the island is easy because everything is close; you can walk, take an auto rickshaw or ask your host to arrange anything you need. For families with young children, the slow boat ride through the canals, a quick visit to a coir workshop, some birdwatching, a walk in the village and a stop at the temple are all simple and relaxed things to do.

I had a beautiful experience in the Eternal Isle Inn!

I had a beautiful experience in the Eternal Isle Inn! The position is good beacuse is near the river, in 15 min you walk until the train station or where there are many shops. I want to thank Sujatha for the kind hospitality, she cooked incredible breakfast and took care that everything was fine for me. Her and the husband were friendly and always wanted to help me if I needed something. They don't speak well English but we have understood perfectly each other ! If you want to come to Munroe island you definitely have to come in this guest house ❤

there's nothing much to do and explore around munroe island,...

there's nothing much to do and explore around munroe island, boating and kayaking in backwaters and mangrove forests are overhyped, the water is dirty and smelly and too much crowd. I wouldn't have spend thousand to go and stay in Munroe if I had known about all this. overall, it can be avoided if you're looking for something to do and explore around. else if you want to go and stay in peaceful serene enviornment you can plan a visit.

It is island which is located 15 km from kollam junction and...

It is island which is located 15 km from kollam junction and there are few activities that we can do in island like kayaking, petal boat, sikera boat ride single or double and canoying. There is train available from/to kollam and it takes less than 30 minutes of travel, if you take auto they charge you b/w 600 to 800, because they use other road way to reach island around 25 km.

Munroe island is a nature lovers paradise , the vegetation and bird life is fabulous. It is very quiet and relatively clean . It’s very nice to walk around and not be confronted with fast moving crazy drivers . There are many places you can walk through the village life. It’s a great spot to go on a canoe trip through the back waters . If you have the need to escape the hustle and bustle of Indian life then come to Munroe and chill

Devika, Jithin and family are SO kind and welcoming!!!

Devika, Jithin and family are SO kind and welcoming!!! I’m a female traveling alone and felt very safe and relaxed at their guest house/ Homestay They were super helpful and acccomodating! The food Devika cooked was delicious. The room is separate from their house and has its own bathroom. The property is very clean and very well maintained and looked after. I can highly recommend taking out the wooden canoe for sunrise! Babu the father in law knocked on my door at 5.30am to set off. It was so peaceful and tranquil. The surrounding backwaters and lakes are breathtaking and Babu was a great guide…… we even stopped off to watch the sunrise which was stunningly beautiful and also stopped at some shallow waters for a morning swim and on the way back, we stopped to watch ladies weaving rope from coconut husk. I can highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxing stay surrounded by beautiful nature. Thank you so much to Devika and the family for such a lovely stay xxx
