It was such a cool place to stay at even or especially during a December snow storm. We enjoyed the rough, wild countryside and being away from the city. We loved Askur and Freyja, the working dogs who visited us regularly. Seeing and petting the sheep at the barn was a highlight! The hosts were super kind showing us everything!

Borgarnes is a small town, very easy to walk around, but...

Borgarnes is a small town, very easy to walk around, but enough facilities for a short stay. There is a choice of cafes and restaurants. There is a swimming pool, but we didn't use it. It was a good location for us to hunt the Northern Lights. Only a short journey was needed to reach areas with dark skies. We were not disappointed.

We only spent 1 night and 1 lunchtime in Borgarnes, so my experience was limited. We would have loved to stay longer and explore more! The walk along the seaside is beautiful and a great way to get around. The pool with its hot tubs is excellent - just go here and skip the pricey spas! The town feels so safe and there are some lovely bakeries and cafes. The Settlement Museum is well worth a visit!

Small uninteresting town.

Small uninteresting town. Better to continue on to Reykjavik or stay somewheres before like Bifrost. We ate at Baza Bistro just down from Hotel Borgarnes. It was great. Food good, very generous serves and friendly staff.

This place was a gem of a find, fantastic scenery, and peaceful. The host was great and the cabin had everything we needed. The town is just fifteen minutes away for groceries etc. A bonus are the farmers dogs who come into the cabin deck and want to play or just have their tummy tickled. There is no tv, in such a wonderful location why would you need one. 100 percent recorded!

all the basic facilities, grocery store, nice french fusion restaurant in one of the hotels in town. starting point to major outdoor points (e.g. Snaefellsness national park, points north and inland). A good base for multiple day trips north and inland. Close to Glymur , highest waterfall in iceland (summer only, no river crossing in winter!)

The city is the historical center of some of the early...

The city is the historical center of some of the early settlers so it was interesting to explore. It has a number of good restaurants and plenty of other amenities like gas stations. It's a beautiful setting just across the fiord from the southern part of Iceland.

Extremely guest centric staff and hotel owner. We had booked a smaller room than intended. We realized this only upon reaching the property. Given we were 5 guests and the hotel was fully booked, the owner was considerate enough to accommodate us in the presidential suite for a rather modest daily charge. His consideration ensured our stay at the hotel was comfortable and our trip to Iceland was memorable. Thank you so much :) The rooms and the hotel location were both excellent. The breakfast had variety.

It was just INCREDIBLE!! The hosts are really nice and have this cute, very random but unique store and coffee shop on site :) The bedroom is big with a kitchen on side. Everything is clean and the beds were comfy. From the terrace of the hotel you’ve got a view over the sea with a perfect sunset location! Would come back anytime ☺️

A great stay to try some authentic Icelandic foods in the restaurant. Well worth the stay for that experience alone. There is a pathway from the hotel along the shoreline which makes for a pleasant walk. Stayed one night whilst travelling north and would recommend for a short stay.

The hotel was not bad, but is a very expensive hotel for what they have to offer.. Location was not great, toilet was not flushing properly. There was no soap in the bathroom and there was no mat in the bathroom.
