Lovely guesthouse fully conceived and built by the host Ragnar, whom we appreciated chatting with and that prepared a very nice breakfast. Cosy apartment, with a beautiful view, and fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds. we enjoyed walking in the surroundings, around the ‘red chair’ made by Ragnar, local attraction that you can spot from the road.

The family-owned Stafafell Cottages is located on a sheep farm in the countryside, 30 km from Höfn village. Each cottage has well-equipped kitchen and a private bathroom with shower.

We have recently stayed at this house. It was located in a peaceful and quiet location with sheep and a reindeer eating in the countryside outside the house. The house itself was comfortable and well-equipped, offering a pleasant and relaxing stay.

We had an incredible stay at the Country Hotel. The rooms were great and so was the breakfast. We were really looking forward to eating dinner at their on-site restaurant, but unfortunately it was already closed for the season. Nevertheless, it was only a few minutes into Hofn where there were some great restaurants (our favorite was Pakkhus). The hotel has beautiful views of the mountains and you can see multiple glaciers from the breakfast room!

Just 5 minutes’ drive from Höfn in south-east Iceland, this hotel is found along Route 1, close to the country’s largest glacier Vatnajökull.

The room was spacious with large windows to the glacier. It was really quiet, and the beds were comfortable. Two extra pillows were offered. The staff was nice and welcoming and the breakfast was excellent!! Really good value for money.

I only spent one night at Birkifell and in all honesty it was not enough. Birkifell is 100% pure charm and comfort. The cabin is small but comfortable and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was pretty much perfect. Coffee machine with coffee, stovetop, oven and microwave, fridge/freezer, cutlery, crockery and cookware. The beds are so comfortable and warm. I slept amazingly well. And now what is truly wow. Hot tub on the verandah with clear, unobstructed views of the sky which was crystal clear. The hot tub was hot, comfortable and clean. The only sound to be heard was me. I have never experienced such quiet and stillness before. It was invigorating. I was sad to have to leave Birkifell but when I come back to Iceland, Birkifell will be my must stay again. I love everything about Birkifell.
