whilst the hotel was old, it didn’t detract from it at all. we chose it because it was across the road from the Herculaneum historical site. the receptionist was lovely, the breakfast filled us up for the day. we were there on New Year’s Day and the town was exceptionally quiet, so much so that we found it difficult to find somewhere to eat at night. parking was a bit tricky and we got a fine by not understanding the rules.

We loved this place!! we were a big group that booked many rooms and eveything was perfect! the rooms were very comfortable and nice, comfy bed, shower great, our room had a beautiful balcony. the stuff was so helpful, helping us organize everything in advance- even booking our dinner when we arrived at a great pizza place nearby. there is also a beautiful garden, and parking inside. we loved everything about this hotel and would definetly want to come back

This was a good definition of experience exceeding expectations. It's really a great hotel. The lady at the reception was super nice and friendly. She offered me a cup of coffee upon arrival, which was very thoughtful given my early flight. I ordered a room with 2 separate beds. But upon learning I'll be staying with my wife she offered to change the room for a bigger one with a big comfy bed. No extra charge! The room was very clean and spacious. There's a TV, a small fridge, and kettle. There's also a common kitchen you can use. A couple of croissants were waiting for us inside the room as well. Also, there's a huge free parking. Upon arrival you should simply ask the receptionist to guide you in.

The apartment is located in a nice historical villa, very close to the train station and to Herkulaneum. There was a nice private parking. The contact with the owner was very good, she was very helpful, provided clear instructions about check in, and also lots of other practical information about Ercolano and other places nearby 😀

We really wanted to see the archaeological site and stay at...

We really wanted to see the archaeological site and stay at Villa Durante. Both places didn't disappoint. We also found good restaurants there. Pedestrian pavements were better than in Naples but still difficult to walk on with luggage. It is a good place to stay if travelling on to Pompeii or Sorrento.

Perfect smaller alternative to Pompeii. Some places better preserved, shorter walking experience, walkable in few hours/half day, cheaper. Better than Pompeii for family with easily bored kids, less crowdy.

You can just soak up the history, not just in the 2000 year old Roman ruins of Herculeaum but also as you stroll through the lanes and passages of Ercolono itself, a wonderful town in it's own right.

It’s not the most beautiful town but the view from our...

It’s not the most beautiful town but the view from our appartment had beautiful views of the bay of Naples for a lot less than you pay in Sorrento. It’s a very good spot to catch the train to Pompeii ( the ruins are right beside Pompeii Scavi station change at Torre de Annunziata) Sorrento, Vesuvius and the stunning Herculaneum. There are plenty of great places to eat and a few volcanic sand beaches to relax after a long walk up a volcano. We enjoyed our pizzas at RoVi and walked into Portici for drinks at Vivarium’s rooftop bar and a fantastic seafood tasting menu at Da Guisieppe al Granatello

Nice area to walk around although many restaurants close in the afternoon and then open after 7pm. Some were closed for the summer season. There was some litter on the streets. People were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed 3 nights, and Ercolano was very convenient for visiting each of Pompeii, Ercolano, and Mt Vesuvio. We would suggest visiting both archeological sites as they provide complementary insights into Roman life and culture. A local guide by the name of Marily(Marialibera Guadagno) was recommended to us and she was brilliant. Having a private guide with her knowledge and humour added immeasurably to our experience.

A fantastic apartment; newly refurbished, fully equipped and spotlessly clean. Emanuele was a brilliant host; really helpful and friendly. The location is great - tucked away in the heart of Ercolano, but close to the ruins of Herculaneum, and a short walk to either the small beach or the station for trains to Pompeii or Naples. We had a lovely stay and would thoroughly recommend. Just be aware that parking would be difficult if you were to drive and there are steps up to the apartment.

the hotel is lovely and well kept. The gardens and pool area are beautiful with the Roof top bar providing beautiful views for a night cap. The rooms are very modern and clean. The hotel offered a free shuttle to the local train station in the town of Ercolano (where there were more restaurants, and a 25-minute walk away from Portici which had more restaurants)

Great location for visiting Ercolano (5 minutes walk) & Pompei (20 minutes on train). Enzo was very welcoming & though he speaks English, we chatted in Italian which I enjoyed! Very comfortable room which allowed us to renew our energy after each of 2 longs days exploring the the ruins! Near market, shops, cafés, restaurants.
