Maratea is a beautiful region and it must get quite crowded in summer. We were trying to miss the crowds and we did. In fact, it was very quiet in the last week of October with almost no tourists and just the small population of residents.

We had the most amazing meal at La Torre restaurant, Giuseppe is an amazing chef. His wife is an amazing host. Our food was of a very high standard and very well presented. I had a glass of red wine that was from the area. I so regret not taking a box home. Absolutely, love our stay. Unfortunately we only stayed one night. Will go back for sure.

Loved going up to Christ the Redeemer it was a fantastic view of the area.Worth the zigzag drive up . We went into the village and down by the boat harbour for dinner . Had the best ever dessert at 1999 ll Ristorante. The food there was amazing . Loved the beach ,the water felt warm , great for swimming. The only thing we found difficult was parking . It’s easy to find your way around but parking is difficult.

It would be nice to have a bit of information supplied where the beaches and beach restaurants/facilities are. Also some details for walks in the area, with enough details about paths and directions to be able to go on them without getting lost.

Take a car. Stay at the hotel Murmann - it’s very good. The beach has nothing to offer. The port area is worth a quick look if you have a car but is not a pleasant walk from the hotel. A local restaurant A Fuoco Lente was very good with friendly staff

Beautiful countryside; mountains AND sea. Quiet too. Great for walkers, but if you want to go far afield a car is useful - can be hired in Maratea. Everyone helpful and friendly. not a lot of English spoken (why should they!) but you can get by easily enough. Assume it is busier later in teh year but springtime is lovely.

The spacious villa is a short walk to the town centre, with an array of bars and restaurants. The villa has a beautiful outdoor terrace where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains and the sea. The parking space for a vehicle was an added bonus. Maratea is an authentic Italian coastal spot, with crowd numbers limited. It is a rustic version of the Amalfi Coast, but more “Italian”. Loved our stay in this spacious villa!

Lovely location on the coast of Italy. Peaceful surroundings and a beautiful pool to swim in. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was exceptional. I would definitely recommend staying here and would come back.
