We were recently in Rome for a week to visit my son's family and new grandson. My son found us the most exquisite hotel that was unique in its history, in that it was part of an old Monastery. Perched on a hillside with breathtaking views of Rome, we were treated to elegant and delightful interiors and very comfortable and spacious accommodations. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud and the shower had full body high pressure heads. But the most remarkable exception to anywhere we have ever stayed, was the very professional and caring staff. Dario has a standard of excellence for himself and the staff that goes far beyond anything I have ever experienced. They begin communication on Whatsapp days before your arrival, asking if you need transportation and inquiring if you have any needs or requests. So regardless of which language you speak, they can google translate any requests. They have an excellent chef and provide room service with any of the choices from their extensive menu. They also serve a buffet breakfast on one of their many outdoor verandas, when the weather provides. I highly recommend the eggplant parmesan and the plate of meatballs. We are older, and don't do well with eating the late night Italian, so ordering dinner at 6 was perfect for us, but they also serve until very late. So when in Rome, don't miss this gem. There is also a beautiful hilltop park with even better views right across the street, so room to get exercise and a small town center a block away for shops and dining. Rome is a fascinating city to visit, but with all that energy of sightseeing, it is wonderful to have a respite to relax and feel totally taken care of. Prima Porta itself is not worth a visit as a tourist, there are several places to eat, but the town itself is not appealing, the supermarket is fine, with many delicious things from the area, a delicious fish department, butcher, delicatessen and bakery. The accommodation is located north and a little away from Prima Porta itself, a delicious gem, beautiful and with easy access to get out and see, either by car or bus/train

Outside Rome, but cheaper and with the option of quickly reaching the city center via the train to Piazza del Popolo. €7 gets you a 24-hour ticket that's also valid for the metro in central Rome.
