Salso is a small town, nearest notable towns are Parma and Modena. The surrounding countryside is pretty awesome with castles and cheese/ham factories The town was renowned for it thermal spa baths. Now in 2024 unfortunately the town seems to be a dormitory town, with slightly passe hotels and possibly no spas. The main spa is about to have a major major overhaul and refurbishment, to be completed within the next few years. Work has already started. However, there a some nice shops and cafes, and very good restaurants. The weather was not kind to us and it was damp and cool (April would normally be warm).Guest review byBishop - 10.0

Unfortunately as the hotel owner explained to us, the Italian thermal towns suffered badly during the pandemic when being in close contact was forbidden, this has left its mark, with many large buildings closed and others looking tatty. There are still individual shops trading here, and some restuarants opening, but you can see they are not finding it easy. Also Italy, unlike France or Spain, does not seem to promote rural tourism in the same way, but it needs to reinvent itself now that the situation has changed.Guest review byPhilipUnited Kingdom - 4.0

I love Salsomaggiore.
I love Salsomaggiore. This is my third visit and discovered the great Lido. The Therme itself is amazing and sad that it was closed as I have not yet been inside. Clearly a must in future. The park is delightful and shady and the restaurants friendly.Guest review byEmmaUnited Kingdom

The breakfast selection was excellent with delicious pastries and cakes, fruit, cheeses and meats, yoghurt, cereal etc. We had two dinners at the hotel which were fabulous. Only sad thing, the pool was closed when we were there late september, but as it was so unseasonally warm, we would loved to have been able to use it.
