I was given special two weeks off by my company and decided to spend it with family (2+3) here. It is nice, spacious holiday house equipped in simple nineties style - this is how I like it. The terrace is especially large and It is where you will spend most of time. The area is calm "holiday houses" area and fences provide full privacy. You will find sand, clean beach, pizzeria and small shop walking distance. There are at least 6 UNESCO heritage sites within 50 km distance - so this is great opportunity to not only enjoy sea, but get to know Sicily better. Although having a bit of language barrier, we had no problem receiving help from owner and he was tolerant to our late arrival (we had some delays in Palermo). Great value for the money and we really enjoyed the stay.

Excellent location and the facilities were exactly what we needed for the purpose of our stay. Enrico was very attentive, friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble - truly outstanding. Breakfast was really good. We would recommend Mare Nostrum.

It is a beach area, but we used it to travel around in...

It is a beach area, but we used it to travel around in Ragusa, Modica and Scicli. It is possible to have day trip to Agrigento, Valley of Temples, as we did. We recommend "Shoreline" restaurant in Pozzallo. You will find also a good ice cream place in the same city as well as the grocery stores (Coop and Eurospin). All restaurants along the beach are OK, but don't fall for recommended fish restaurants there. Frozen products will be used and you will leave at least 18 euros for fried squid from the freezer. Shoreline had excellent quality of fresh fish products, wines, pasta and desserts. They also do great pizzas.

Quiet relaxing location we stayed mid October for one week...

Quiet relaxing location we stayed mid October for one week could have stayed longer so enjoyable. Out of season so quiet all around the area you need a car to travel around or get to next villages/towns/supermarkets. Security at the Villa excellent and plenty space for secure parking without the car being in full view . Excellent facilities including private pool, plenty of outdoor seating including a secluded hammock area. Use of washing machine useful as we had already been elsewhere prior to our visit. Couldn't recommend this accommodation or the owners more definitely 10/10 :)

The restaurants in Santa Maria del Focallo we enjoyed the...

The restaurants in Santa Maria del Focallo we enjoyed the most were La Tegola and Il Braciere. In Pozzallo, we recommend Osteria Romana. As for beaches, we recommend Pietre Nere Beach in Pozzallo and Punta Cirica in Santa Maria del Focallo. The beaches in the Vendicari Nature Reserve are also very beautiful.

An extensive coastline with exceptional sea water, beaches...

An extensive coastline with exceptional sea water, beaches that are almost completely free, and reasonably well-maintained in terms of cleanliness. The sanitation service is good, with the usual problem of poor/incomplete participation by the population, both local and foreign. Pozzallo is just a stone's throw away and half an hour from the beaches of Syracuse. A separate means of transportation is obviously necessary.
