We had an extremely nice stay over four nights at the Borgo san Rocco. The owner(s) and the whole staff of the hotel and the restaurant have been very, very friendly, supportive, and generous (e.g., a splendid salad and wine for lunch). We had dinner at the restaurant on all four days (which speaks for itself) and we enjoyed perfect starters, pasta, risotto and sea food. There was always good mood among all people being present, so obviously everyone was enjoying the stay very much. It is a bit of adventure to drive up the narrow roads of Savoca, but it is perfectly doable. Be sure to follow the advice of the hotel about how to drive to the resort. If you follow, e.g., the Google navigation you will end up in a road which is impossible to drive on (we made a hike along this road and because of this know what we are talking about). The hotel staff sends you information about this prior to your arrival and so it can be easily avoided.

What a lovely small B&B up in the hill near Savoca. Christelle, the owner, is a perfect host who also could help you with bookings for Etna and sightseeing and route recommendations. The breakfast was amazing with so many tasty items and so nicely set up. Also the room was decorated very stylishly, and it was large and had a nice outside seating area. The swimming pool was very welcome feature on a hot day when we walked to the beach and back.

Franca was very helpful with everything. This was one of the most special bookings we have had. The house was full of interesting details and very comfortable. They have a lovely backyard with a view, perfect to relax after a day in the beach. Savoca at night and sunset is magical, we are glad we chose it and its quite close to the main road to Taormina and Catania. Food choices in the town can be a little limited but for a couple of days is ok.

The staff were beyond friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and the little balcony over the town was lovely. The town becomes very peaceful in the evening and early morning which was just magical. Breakfast was amazing, our choice of anything from the bar. The staff were very attentive and it was a wonderful place to stay.

The residents are exceptionally kind, and the bakery is...

The residents are exceptionally kind, and the bakery is truly exceptional. It is a delightful destination to visit. Nevertheless, it is advisable to refrain from spending money at the renowned bar location where the godfather was filmed, as it is nothing more than a rip-off with subpar service. The owners prioritised the account.

Beautiful little hilltop village, great location and scenic...

Beautiful little hilltop village, great location and scenic views with some history. Reasonable number of good dining options but it's not a busy 'resort'. We loved it, but noted that others had commented that there wasn't enough to do in the village in the evenings - too quiet apparently. Probably best enjoyed with access to a car, but limited bus options if on foot.

Savoca is a lovely village with a lot of traditional charm,...

Savoca is a lovely village with a lot of traditional charm, beautiful walks and interesting history. We found the people there very genuine and welcoming. The food was delicious. Very easy to explore on foot. A great place for godfather fans but you will have a lovely time even if you’re not interested in the films.

If you want to put the world aside for a while then Savoca...

If you want to put the world aside for a while then Savoca is the place for you. A little off the beaten track but such a picturesque part of Sicily. Be warned, you can walk the entire town in a morning and pretty much explore everything it has to offer. But if scenery, friendly people and getting away from it all are what you are after you will be hard pushed to find somewhere better. It does get very hot in summer and due to the filming of some of The Godfather here you do get the odd coach load of tourists turn up for a photo of Bar Vitelli and to do the wedding walk. That said, the town is that small that once you have spent a couple of days here you almost feel like a local and if people watching is your thing, then a cold beer and an ice cream in the square can while away a couple of hours. There are a couple of decent restaurants here too, but they are not open every day. Let's just say that very quickly you begin to realise that this slow way of life might not be such a bad thing. There are a couple of souvenir shops in the main square (if you can call it that), but they are not in your face. And if you walk up to the Saint Nicolas church make sure you stop off at Andrea's olive oil shop. All in all, Savoca is a tiny piece of Italy (Sicily) that you won't regret visiting.

For sure it had to be classified as one of the most...

For sure it had to be classified as one of the most beautiful "Borgi" of Italian historic villages (Sicily). The old , quiet village looks like a Nativity crib, especially at night with its dim lightning and charming Savocans! The story behind Francis Copolla's "The Godfather" makes it more intresting. I was very disappointed with the over-priced and money-miser approach of Bar Vitelli...... if you do not sit down and but an expensive Granita .... circa 8 Euro oer person than to just have a photo you are charged 5 euro. But ignoring Bar Vitelli ill-effect approach, Savoca offers wonderful walks, charming atmosphere and scenery, great vinotecas (Wine bars) and places to eat. It is a place to supreme relaxation away from bustling city noise, eventhough on Wednesday a lots of tourists invade the village.

Verdello Home is a wonderful place to stay.

Verdello Home is a wonderful place to stay. Excellent new accommodation and gracious, caring lovely hosts. Situated near the Sea and a short distance to the village of Savoca which is charming, has beautiful vistas, and excellent restaurants.

The location of the apartment is fantastic: close to the beach and not far from Taormina, but just far enough away to find peace and quiet after the hustle and bustle of the day. The views from the terrace in front of the apartment are stunning, Savoca is a fabulous historic town. Maria, our host, was wonderful: very kind, helpful and caring, always ready to help and advise us. There are restaurants nearby with delicious Sicilian food and friendly service.
